Man, that's too bad.

This is obviously unfortunate, but I just hope that the public waits to attack him until after the verdict. I think its too bad when people feel like they can attack a famous athlete for some situation he put himself in when he may not have done anything at all. Then again, if he is found guilty then its a different story.

One recent example is how three members of the Swedish hockey team where arrested on rape charges after partying one night in Stockholm after an exhibition game. Within three days they had been suspended from national team play (and will be the coming year as well), and were released by their club teams. The players were found innocent of all charges a day or two after the arrest.

I vaguely remember that. Wasn't it the Berlin Capitals though? And wasn't one of them Canadian? I'm kind of fuzzy on the details, but I too remember thinking "f-ing bastards" until the allegations just dissolved. Shows that in rape cases people are generally considered guilty until proven innocent.

Could have been. But the case I am talking about happened back in February or March and was only with members of the Swedish national team. Kristian Huselius and two other dudes, i forget their names.

Even if that's true, he's still in trouble. To be honest though, this is pretty much the first time i've seen an athlete accused of rape and thought he was innocent.

Just some girls wanting to make headlines, but as you said even if he isn't charged a certain Mr. Wenger can't be happy with him, it gives Arsenal a bad reputation, i'm sure Mr. Wenger will give him another chance.

You have got to be friggin' kidding me...just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. What in the world is this guy thinking??? Now we don't know what the story is yet but for him to put himself in this situation where something like this could happen is just unbelieveable, you would've thought he might have learned a lesson from his previous troubles with the law but I guess not...just hope I'm wrong and this is nothing but false allegations. This is really bad, for him to be arrested and taken into custody is not a good sign, allegations are one thing but to be arrested and all but charged with the crime is something completely different...there's gotta be something that links him to this for them to arrest him and dub him as a "suspect". I'm afraid if he might have just screwed up whatever chance he had at Arsenal regardless of what the outcome is...AW and Dein won't stop for this kind of behavior.

Too early to know anything about whether these charges are real or not. Here (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208238) is a thread with quotes from Dutch sources. Apparently the fact that he was held over night means something.

Woah!!! Over-reaction alert!!! Calm down, you know nothing about the situation, he could be completely innocent and to say he's screwed up his chance at Arsenal whatever the outcome, is ridiculous and stupid..

Could be, but in Holland I think that they only hold you for a max of about 6 hours unless there is something more serious and sinister about it. The fact he has been kept in overnight and is still(I believe) being held, is more a cause for concern

How is it an over reaction? Yeah I suppose it's ok our players get arrested for frickin' rape, give me a break. Trust me this is a lot more serious than you think...they wouldn't have arrested him and still have him detained unless there was a good reason to, you don't just go around and throw out rape charges and arrest people for the hell of it. And he may just have screwed up his chance with the club...he's already been in trouble once for hit and run and now this, AW doesn't want this kind of stuff at the club...look at what happened to Pennant. You call it over reaction, I call it being very worried.

In Holland the police can keep you for upto 3 days before releasing you.

Arrested doesn't imply what you mean. He is being detained for further investigation, he could well be exonorated of all charges by tomorrow. He is suspect but he hasn't been charged with the offence.

Over reaction ? here we go then...

You have got to be friggin' kidding me...just when you thought it couldn't get any worse.

Couldn't get any worse ? huh ? things are pretty good at the minute... want to see things worse for a team, look up Munich air disaster...

What in the world is this guy thinking??? Now we don't know what the story is yet but for him to put himself in this situation where something like this could happen is just unbelieveable, you would've thought he might have learned a lesson from his previous troubles with the law but I guess not...

Hang on, what situation has he put himself in, you know nothing about the details of what he's done...

And of course you know this because ?? Oh you dont do you ?

I'm afraid if he might have just screwed up whatever chance he had at Arsenal regardless of what the outcome is...AW and Dein won't stop for this kind of behavior.

WTF ? So Arsenal might throw him out even if he's innocent ?

Yes it may be serious, but lets wait until it is before we assume the worse hey ??
