My brilliant non-soccer loving Dad last night calls me up and says he was talking with one of his Romanian friends and they decided they want to go to the WC with myself and my Dad's friends son. You can imagine my immediate jubilation at this statement. However ,after thinking for a few moments I came to think. We have really missed the boat on the tickets.

I saw on Fifaworldcup.com that the USA package is already sold out. I told my Dad this and he said that is fine, but we will at least want to see 1 USA match while in Germany.

So now I will ask you guys as the experts who probably have your tickets. What are my realistic chances of seeing a USA game? I am just wondering if you know anything about maybe possibly what cities they will be in? I know until the draw comes out we won't know, but I hear about the seedings and such and maybe depending on what pot we're in and so on you could have clue.

Any input would be appreciated.

I am expecting to get slammed on the prices, but I will be paying a ticket broker for mine once we find out what group the US team will be in. Sure it will cost more, but I will get to go to the three first round games the USA plays and that is worth it right there!

if you can pay the brokers, you'll definitely be able to get a ticket.
more importantly, there are still a lot of tickets to be released by FIFA. the next round is specific game tickets. it's a lottery, so you don't have to submit on the first day and can wait until after the draw is done in december. apply for the US games on a game by game basis, as well as other games you or your dad may be interested in. if it's like the earlier rounds of tickets, you'll have roughly a 20% chance of getting them, so good luck.

Does anyone have an idea what the broker markup will be for 1st/2nd round tickets? Presumably this is somewhat driven by demand, but I'm just looking for a ballpark figure to see whether or not it's even an option for me. Thanks...

FIFA has worked hard trying to discourage the ticket brokers from getting tickets. I have no idea how well it will work, but I'd be carefull with tickets that I didn't get through FIFA or ussoccer.

Lot's of people have guesses and plans, but I don't think anyone really knows how it will play out.

You may want to check out soccertravel.com. I think they are endorsed by USSoccer and they get their tickets from USSF.

If you want to see what the brokers are charging for World Cup tickets, go to one of their sites where they're offering tickets on a "preorder" basis.

See www.RazorGator.com. They're showing first round games generally in the $480-$680 range with games involving Germany going for $800-$1000 or so. Some round of 16 games are priced the same as opening round games. For high rollers, try the final at $2,270-$3,860 per ticket! Also take a look at www.globalticketservice.com. They show opening round games at 390-540 Euros per ticket, round of 16 for 490-590 Euros per ticket, and the final for 1,990-2,490 Euros per ticket. You can find other brokers using the links at www.soccerphile.com.

All of the brokers are showing huge mark ups on the ticket prices. I expect the secondary market to become more liquid once additional tickets are made available early next year, but for now, it's pretty slim pickings if you weren't one of the lucky lottery winners.

I got 5 packages of 3 tickets each to the first 3 USA games. They said the tickets are confirmed and guaranteed and I will receive them in early 2006. Cost me over a grand for each package but thatīs ok. You have 4 years to pay off a loan.
