Put the ball in the back of the net.

I was going to make the same joke, hawk :)

The only way to work on these things is to practice. Find someone who plays goalie and wants to practice 1v1, or make things difficult for yourself by putting up obstacles on the field if you're by yourself. Place some garbage cans or bags or something near the goal, and practice approaching from different angles and shooting around/past the obstacles you put up.

I would LOVE to work on my finish, but I don't know any goalies, and I'm just getting to the point where I have a friend that will cross the ball into me while I practice. Until then I had to practice by myself, making the "imaginary goalkeeper" the only opposition I had to finish against, unless of course it's in the game :(

There is no substitute for game situation pressure when finnishing. for solo prep you could try mark off 3 feet in on each post, then grab a few balls and repeatedly try to keep the ball low and in the corner. do it on the run, while cutting to the middle, off the bounce, off the chest, while turning/faking - lots of balls and go nuts - make sure you are always striking the ball while on the move, stationary practice will not give you confidence to transfer to a game situation.

Just relax goals will come the only advice i can give you is to not get excited in front of goal. Stay calm and bury it in the back of the net.

and most of the time the better option is to touch the ball into the net instead of a strong shot...practice with both sides of your foot so u wont have a problem with ball placement....or better yet, always practice with the leg u don't normally use(like i did)....nothing better than have the confidence of knowing u can score with either leg... :D

Find a goal keeper, a set of nets, a punt it at him again an again, day after day, should help, either that or the goalkeeper will get pissed of from fetchin the ball.

If youve got a really boarded mate get him to come along a lay a few off for you too.

Well, I don't really get excited in front of goal. It's mostly the 1vs1 situations I'm weak at. I have an amazingly strong shot for my age and have the technique needed for ball control, but in game AND practice, I find it difficult coming past defenders...except when I get the ball when in full speed. I'm taking these tips, and I'd love to get some more tips on 1vs1 moves, for the most just simple moves which are effective. Not some move you got to do a few minutes before you get past the def. :D ;)

Oh yeah, and another thing I've noticed that might be one factor in my worrying is that for untill last game I used to get the last 10 minutes of each game of play...and we got one game left. 7x10 mins= 70 minutes of play in 8 games and season finishes next game.

Check out this site (http://www.strongsoccer.com/Kingdrills/clipspractice.htm).

Then look at "lunges" and "scissors". The key is to "sell" the move. You have to do these quickly but really sell the move, so I guess exaggerate the move as to look like you're going one way. Then when you do your feint, ACCELERATE away. But it's not just away. You accelerate to the diagonal side that you're going to, and then you CUT back into the defenders line so it leaves the defense with 2 options: foul you or they have to run around you - making it MUCH harder to get the ball away from you.

This may just be me, but all i do is, hit the ball as hard as i can to any corner unless im at a funny angle, in which that case, i aim for the far post or cross, and i normally cross. My teamates are always there.

Grab a friend or your dad and ask them to pass the ball when you're on the run from both left and right sides and different angles ranging from "pass from behind" to when the ball is rolling towards you. Try to shoot without first touching the ball.

Practise all sort of situations with the ball coming towards you from every side and just don't think about it. I find if I get the ball then think where I'm going to hit it I'll miss. If I get the ball and just hit it where it feels natural I'll score.

First do you know the difference between shootiing and finishing?

It is distance out side the 18 your shooting inside the 18 your finishing which is putting location on the ball. So finishing is about putting placement on the ball.

It is also about setting up the keeper for that placement to increase your finishing percentage.

Do something off the dribbler to get the keeper to move from where he is to the left or right. Do it on purpose then as soon as he starts to move place the ball where he was. Once he starts to move left or right he can't recover to stop a finish where he was. Work on that.

When your moving to goal from the right side lets say if possible make your finish to the left side side netting using your left foot. Work on it. Don't shoot far post shoot far post side netting.

Keeper comes out to take away the far post. Work on this put inside spin on the ball. You air the ball a foot of the ground using that left foot with inside spin. Just worry about getting the aired ball past the keeper. You won't shoot past the far post the air ball with spin will hit the ground and spin in the direct of inside the far post and instead of away.

You gave the pass/finish eyes by putting some thought behind that pass. A nice little skill that we always used years ago to pass to team mates when defender were in the way of the pass. Pass around the defender and then the ball bounced and goes to the receiver you gave the pass eyes.

Reason why you don't see it much anymore because the receivers are smarter now they move so they can see the passer and the ball with no defender in the way.

-------------

Also you are dribbling to the right side and the keeper comes out to cut your angle. Plus as if that wasn't enough you have a first defender on your inside shoulder so even trying to shoot far post isn't going to work. So what to do?

Continue the dribble more outside to your right. You just put some space between you and the first defender. Now if the keeper should adjust his position more outside then he was. Even if he does he might not adjust his position enough he will leave a hole of space if he had come out between him and the near post. That is where you want to put the ball into that space high you can score from that. Set that situation up artificially so you can see what I am talking about and practice.

On Saturday Anti-pass Rozov now with Metrostars scored his second goal of the game by doing exactly what I said. If you can get a tape of the game watch it, It does work if the keeper came out not if he is next to the near post

When the goalie isn't decided i Usually shot in the corner of the goal wich is in front of me. WHen he is coming sharply towards me I use to pass him by dribbling and empty GOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLL :)
The worst are situations in penalt box when it's great mess and you have not more then 1-2 seconds to shot and often it's from hard position.
