Helguera?

Why does Aragones keep Helguera out of the line-up in favor of people like Albelda? I can sort of understand playing Marchena ahead of him in defense, but I really think Helguera would do a lot better in the destructor spot in the midfield. He'd also allow Salgado and Del Horno to attack more, since he can shift into a third centerback when the team rushes up field.

I'm going to assume he was injured over the last couple games, because I don't understand how someone as versatile as him could not even make the bench.

Helguera is 30 now, though, and in the phsyical downhill bit of his carrer. He can no longer display his old midfield stuff. In any case, his season and from before these games were better than Marchena's, so he should have been called instead of him.

I keep seeing people in this forum that ask for Helguera in midfield. It won't happen again (except in emergencies). His knees are shot, and he is physically incapable of doing what he used to do in midfield.
