probably old news to you lot, but i've just read it and not seen a post on it.
Louis Saha will be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer for less than half the £12.5million Manchester United paid for the Frenchman only 15 months ago.
Sir Alex Ferguson has decided to cut his losses on the former Fulham striker and it is understood that United are willing to accept a bid of just £5m for the 26-year-old.
Saha has struggled to make any impact at Old Trafford since joining from Fulham in January last year. He scored only nine goals for the club and through a combination of injury and competition for places has spent more time on the sidelines than the pitch.
However, his £40,000-a-week wages make a return to Fulham highly unlikely.
Well, that happens alot in football. Players go out looking to fill bank accounts instead of acheiving higher goals. I personally never thought from the begining that Saha would help induce further dominance for UTD. He was average @ best and with the strikers they already had, I was stunned when he decided to join them.
Oh well, what now for Saha. Does'nt sound like he'll be going back to the Cottage this summer.

He really was useless. Injury prone, and really just had pace to back him up. Glad he's gone. I doubt he'll be back at the Cottage, maybe he'll decide to go play for Ligue 1. Who knows. Might see him in a Millwall jersey or a Lyon one. Atleast United can get some money from him to spend.

Bolton would be perfect for Saha. With their UEFA Cup money, they could bid 3.5MEuros

I dunno what your all saying about Saha how he only has pace as an asset. Have you ever actually watched him play or is this what Max Bretos is telling you all. When he's healthy he can play up top all by himself, hold the ball, and even take on opposing defenses by himself. The only thing he hasn't done consistently is score goals, but he sets up alot. Even this season he was amazing, his game at Villa park being a strong example. He really isn't bad at all, he's better at knocking down and holding balls than Ruud is, and he's better at taking people on then Ruud is. He's a better passer than Rooney and just as good with his head as Smith and Ruud. That said, Ruud is a much better finisher and I'm glad players like Alan Smith and David Bellion will get more games with Saha leaving. Still, whoever signs him gets a bargain.

No, he's not.
In fairness to Saha, he is a good player who has just been unlucky with injuries.

He scored 7 in 9 starts in his first United season. His problem has been being utterly injury prone this season. However he was bought before Rooney, and before United thought they'd buy Rooney so early. So that's is why more than anything he is surplus.
Personally I don't think he should be sold yet, unless for around £7-8m. Rooney is not a full out striker, and Smith is not really a box man either. Saha is a target man who can cover for RVN.

Well one of the reasons they bought SAHA was he was scoring like mad at Fulham and we needed another striker for the champions league that year and saha was eligible but we paid too much.

Any team running a 1 striker system should be interested. Everton, Bolton, etc. He's quality...not United quality, but quality.

I thought he should have stayed at Fulham at the time of his transfer to Man U. There was just too much competitioin for him at OT for Saha to make an impact given his skills. Maybe I should be a football consultant?

My thoughts exactly.
Saha maybe able to take on players better than Ruud, becasue ruud is a poacher. He hugs the backling for the sneak attack. Different type of striker roll.
Anyway, my main point was not to knock the lads talent. But when you've got strikers like Ruud and Rooney already there, then surely you must have your doubts about 1st team footy.
Even Michael Owen does'nt get 1st team footy over and aging, washed up Raul. However, that's for reasons outside of football.

Raul's not old and washed up, he's 27 and in his "prime"
Saha should go to Chelsea in an exchange for Drogba. They're exactly the same player, only differnce is Saha has talent. Not the kind of talent Drogba has though, like missing wide open nets or flooring defenders with his arm.

Not surprised. He cost £12.8million 18 months ago but with the arrival of Wayne Rooney his first-team chances are really restricted. Could go back to Fulham - if they're prepared to pay about £6million for him. I hear WBA are looking for a new striker to boost their chances of Premiership survival in 2005-06 so he could go to the Hawthorns. Or like so many Man United players before him he could end up at Middlesbrough or Blackburn. His only chance of being a Man United regular now is if either Rooney or van Nistelrooy has a long term injury, and even then he might still be kept out of the side by Smith or Solskjaer. So he's probably better off going somewhere else.

You are kidding right? Washed up and aging? He's the same age as Thierry Henry! Henry has "just" moved into his prime. I don't understand why so much enthusiasm is placed in young players at the detraction of slightly older ones. eg Owen and Rooney.
Shame. Another waste of money. He is a good player and i think he will do well wherever he goes. Villa maybe, O'leary has a bit in the kitty. Maybe Bolton or Boro as well.

No.
1) Raul is aging. He ages at an incredible young age. This is what which happens to you when you play too much games as a youngster (actually, I won't be surprised if the same happens to Owen and Rooney)
2) No way are Saha and Drogba the same player. Drogba is more of a power player, while Saha is more of a speed player. Anyway, why would Chelsea want Saha when they are so busy trying to get Sheva, Gilardino and Adriano?
The truth is, Saha is just not as good as what Man U fans want to make him out to be. He is a good player, but if you want to play in Man U you have to be better than a good player. He must be regreting his desire to leave Fulham.
