Okay, I am just curious how everyone else is planning on handling this. The little angel on my left shoulder says the Trucos are laying off a bit and this IS a friendly so we should show Arce some respect. On the right shoulder the little Diablo says, F-Diaz Arce and the way he incited many of the problems that have occured since he left.

--So I ask you, what are you thinking? Should we boo his every touch? Or should we lay off and let by gones be by gones?

Nice pic of Ben u got there.

Really, I will wait and see what the fans do. I mean, if they start dissing on my team, then lets boo their every move, especially arces. Im about ready to make a "MLS REJECT" poster for our dear old friend.

I'm with the Dog on this one. But judging from the Alianza/Motagua game, it seemed more like a golf tournament crowd than a futbol match crowd. But RDA has a way of bringing out "The Best" in his peeps, so I'll sit back, watch and wait.

To Raul's Fools: Please seal your urine bags before throwing them ;)

I think it's best to just ignore him.

I'll take the high road on this for one simple reason: Raul Diaz Arce did more for this team than the aggregate of his fan base ever did. I'll applaud politely (although with hands like dead fish) when he's announced, and heckle him just like every other opponent when he's on the ball. (OK, maybe not has hard as Serna, Petke, or the departed-for-Saudi Arabia-Diallo, but way more than Agoos, Kamler, or Llamosa.)

I will admit that there is a measure of "wait and see" with this, though. I believe you can razz with respect (US-Honduras was pretty nice in my part of the lower bowl); that's where I always start from.

I think it's best to judge the action of the crowd first. As long as the Barra brings the noise I don't give a crap who shows up or who they cheer for.
As for RDA... who cares? He's not that good anymore. United needs to score ealry and often so the crowd isn't a factor.

for me, my personal policy is that most ex-United players get a pregame hand from me. i don't boo them though i may get on them for fouls, dirty play, etc. i put raul in this category, though if the crowd was dogging us hard, i'd boo him at every touch. i though it very effective when a lot of dudes booed cien during the last la game.

a few such as lisi (for kissing his jersey) and albright i still boo their every touch of the ball.

aunger of course remains my personal god and is worshipped whether he plays for another team or is selling cars.

I usually do like R&B does and give former United players a nice hand. Even for Richie when he was a MetroStar.

Lisi won't get a hand from me as I remember that gesture from this year. Kamler and Garlick are two of my favorite ex-DCU'ers so I'll cheer them if they make a nice play or save vs us.

Side note:
Where have you gone Jeff Causey and Kris Kelderman?

Causey is an asst coach on UMd men's team

I don't know if he's playing for another team or selling cars, but I did see him a couple times at Tysons Sport and Health last year teaching girls soccer on one of the 2 basketball courts they have there. The girls were about junior-high to high-school aged, and they were using MLS balls

About Diaz Arce, I'm cheering him. He always gave his all and was a big part in our championship years, which make DC the most recognized MLS team in the world

The one RDA memory I will always have is the PK he nailed in game 3 of the '96 Eastern Conference semifinals vs the Metros. My Mom had heart surgery that week and I was at the hospital all the time after work. Mom heard about the game 3 from one of the nurses whose son was planning to go and said for me to go to the game. So I went and for two hours plus, forgot about everything and concentrated on the match. The happiness of that stadium after his PK was unreal. I still think about that like it was only yesterday it happened. Six years ago, man, time flies.

I'll always remember and appreciate RDA's contributions to this team, but his departure was handled the wrong way and I won't forget some of the things he said after he left. I don't want to start the RDA debate all over again so I will close by saying I hope he is happy doing what he's doing and will wish him and his family well.

I tend to agree, who cares about RDA! Let's go DCU! One more victory to keep us going until next year!!!

:D I know a girl who played on the team he coached before he was traded and her Mom used to complain that he went too easy on the girls. That used to make me laugh!!

I agree 100%. He was an integral part of at least two of our championships and as such should be treated with respect. I also think that it's equally important for Q2 to receive an equally warm welcome from all the DCU fans. Perhaps we can help win back over some of DA's fans.

As usual i should have been clearer. I tend to agree. but at the same time I also meant to convey (no pun...) how annoyed I was at Arce's stirring of resentment for his own gain following his departure. Many players have come and gone for similiar reasons (alleged OR true financial moves) since, but generally all have shown more class. --I am still mixed. The wait and see crowd seems to be right.

Funny you should mention Geoff Aunger. I thought I saw him on L Street in downtown DC yesterday wearing a gray business suit. I'm pretty sure it was him. Rember that "prancer" kind of running style he had? He kinda walks that way too.

I'm not going to a game that will bring in loads of El Salvadorans. Every time they come there's trouble. Men going into the women's restroom, fights, food and beer throwing... Why bother?
