"GIO" is set to make his return in a reserve game against Ipswich this coming Wednesday at home (Barnet).
Pires is also scheduled to play in his "comeback" rehabilition. He has expressed "concern" about getting another "knock" on his knee, but accepts that it is "part of life".

"GIO" and Robert Pires both play as Arsenal Reserves win 2 - 0. GIO states, I felt fine (the injury). Needed to get my "second wind" at times during the game. Match fitness required before any serious run-out in the first team. Both players came through okay.

PIRES scored the first goal in this match. A "lob" over the goalkeeper from about 15 yards inside the penalty area on the angle. Early indications are that he will have a "full run out" against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Here's hoping that Gio makes more of an impact this go round. I've been dying to break out my Gio chant....
To the tune of "Rio" by Duran Duran
"His name is GIO and he plays for Arsenal.
He's set up lots of goals, but only scored one of his own."

Are you familiar with the phrase, "Don't give up your day job?" (LOL). Acutally it's quite "catchy" and simple, so could well catch on.

LOL! - The chant I sent to Arsenal.com for Freddie 2 or 3 years ago never seemed to catch on either. It was to the tune of "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen...
"Freddie Ljungberg, whooa, whooa, just scored a goal! Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah! <repeat>"
