I'd like to be upbeat, but our recent match against Hungry make me feel the worse.
We scored thanks to two defense mistakes, don't produce much play.

I fear we might not make it.

I didnt see the game but everything I read made me think that the french offense was doing very well. L'Equipe thought it was a good game as well.
Putting pressure on a team and attacking effectively will disrupt a team's defense and lead to mistakes.

I think the system is starting to work with Dhorrasso playing consistently well and Malouda providing the crucial left-foot.

Have a little faith. :)

Yes. Have to win away at Ireland and away at Switzerland to avoid a playoff (or worst).

Which one is the tougher match? At Switzerland or Ireland?

I think Ireland have a better home record over the last decade or so.

At Ireland... No question in my mind. I think the French fans will travel well to Switzerland (I don't know what city will be hosting, but I'm assuming Zurich), and the Irish are always tough at Landsdowne.

the first half was gold-plated dynamite. i can hardly remember seeing les bleus move the ball (and themselves) that well.

Les francais need to get those Easy Jet tickets and fly to Ireland for this game. It wont be as many as in Geneva for sure but a good group would help alot.

Erm, the match against Hungary was againt a SECOND string side. They had a WC Qualifier a day or two after.

France vs a second string Hungary side.

Even our regular starters may have come up with a win!

No, the brand-new Stade de Suisse in Bern will host it.

Oh.... The bankrupt one.... Well that will be easier to travel to than Zurich I suppose.

What? The Stade de Geneve has problems but the Stade de Suisse (which will open next month) has none of those.

PS: I have the feeling it will be quite difficult for France supporters to get their hands on tickets for this match.

I guess that I was thinking about the one in Zurich that is going belly up.

You guys better qualify and better have a good world cup. Simply for my entertainment, I love watching les bleus play!

I'll pass that on to Platini... I think that will prompt him to fire Domenech... :)

Well...for the crucial game against Ireland in the last qualifying campaign tickets sold out in less than two hours. ;)

It's not going belly up, it's just blocked by legal opposition from the idiot residents. Either way, we have a second new stadium lined up for Euro 2008 if it doesn't get done in time.

Why is France doing so bad in thier Group?

Why is France doing so bad in thier Group?

Zidane and alot of veteran players hung up their international boots after Euro 2004. So the team is younger, less experienced and without a proven leader. Add some questionable tactics from the new coach and some jittery performances in front of a less than enthusiastic Parisian home crowd and youre caught up to date.

The good news is that Les Bleus have seemed to figure out how to put the ball in the back of the net again...maybe.
