the aussie just played the PCA Masters XI in an exhibition match.

Brett Lee celebrates dismissing Stephen Fleming with the first ball of the match

the aussies won the toss, put PCA into bat first, and they got 167-6 in the 20 overs. the aussies won with just one ball to spare- 170-2 in 19.5. they only had 2 men out, creating the disapointment of not seeing Symonds get to bat. Gilchrist and Hayden's opening stand produced 131 runs.

australia play Leicestershire on Saturday in another tune up to the 20/20 game vs england on monday.

Cricket is brilliant - incidentally the only sport I support England in.

Harmison just removed McGrath's middle stump, bales everywhere. Aus 79 all out with almost 6 overs to spare.

England win by 100 (ONE HUNDRED) runs!!! :) Get in!!!

wow.

i've only seen one test match, Day 4 of the first England v NZ test last year on a crappy tv set in my hotel room as I recovered from a hangover. I also watched a replay of highlights from England's ODIs from the Windies last may during a weather delay for a Windies v Bangladesh (i think) ODI last May.

while I am a newbie, i've been posting every once and a while.

I'm following the fortunes (and misfortunes) of Middlesex CC this year, we'll see how it ends up.

Was watching it in work - couldn't effing believe. And to think that my Warwickshire are top of the county championship after spanking their last opponents by an innings this could turn out to be a decent old summer of cricket for me. :)

yep, england players were all really up for it, got the crowd going, the atmosphere must have been brilliant! australians were all over the shop in the field - couple of dreadful misfields got the crowd on a couple of players backs as well, which was nice to see. and some quality booing of ricky ponting at the presentations after the match, always love a bit of that.

still, it's probably all we'll get to cheer this summer.

they had darren lehmann commentating on sky sports - he was talking like england have already won the ashes!

basically all this will probably do is really piss the aussies off. we'll probably be on the receiving end of a ruthless display from them pretty soon.

just watching skysports now, and they opened with highlights (or lowlights for aussie fans). through the show, they mention the top stories and they keep saying "in 20/20 england humiliated australia by 100 runs.."

some good pics here-
http://content.cricinfo.com/ci/content/gallery/211053.html

oh, and the 'newbies' comment was sarcasm- the more people the merrier here. hopefully we will have some good traffic here this summer with the ashes.

i can;t help but think the english players/fans are really enjoying this as chewmylegoff already mentioned "it's probably all we'll get to cheer this summer."

that being said, england did beat australia last year in the ICC Champions trophy.

"england thrashed australia.."- lol, thats how the show just came back from a commercial. Ha, and this- "they just handed out a lesson to australia.."
