Used to be a goalie for Monaco if memory serves me right and trained Barthez as their goalkeeping coach for a while.

He is a Coriscan I think....

so anyone heard of him?

He was one of the classic French goalie with Les Bleus in the 80's alongside Joel Bats !!

Waow, la Corse ! Mademoiselle ne se refuse rien...C'est un des endroits les plus beaux de France, alors profitez en.

He played for France in WC 1982, and was there in the mythical game against Germany in the semis.

he's actually from marseilles, but likely of corsican descent like a lot of people in that city. when i started following french football he was known as a former keeper of the national team (he only had 9 caps but must have made a big impression, perhaps because of the mythical germany match) but above all as monaco's all-time greatest keeper. he played ages for them, and was excellent.

corsica is breathtakingly beautiful with fantastic weather, a good place to go for something like this! have a great time!

Great goalkeeper for Monaco.

He played 602 games in ligue 1 (that's the record). 754 games if you're counting cups. He won 3 french leagues, 3 french cups and played some high level european games. He also played world cup 1982 with team France.

He also used to be (is still being ?) a part of Monaco training staff.

You can say he's an experienced man :) .

PS: he is also renowned for being a small goalkeeper, which is an oddity.
PPS: beware of corsicans, they are real machos. No joke  .

LOL, Ganu :) .

I forgot to say Ettori was France's Goalkeeper during the LEGENDARY game France / Germany (WC1982).

And when I say LEGENDARY (in capital letters), I mean LEGENDARY (in capital italics).

Nabawan already said this, but we can't repeat it enough. Jean-Luc Ettori is really someone in french soccer.

UNYG, if you speak french and come to france occasionally, you might want to get information about olympique lyonnais, which had at different times this year no less than 6 members of the US women's national team.

see thread: Women's Soccer > Women's International > FRENCH LEAGUE - 5 US Players

yes, you could say he's pretty well known in these parts ... maybe not a legend though.

I think he was a tad short ..
might have cost us a few goals in 82 ... I think the alternative was Castaneda at the time and he didn't do too well in the 3rd place game in WC82 ... if I recall correctly.

Joel Bats, that was WC 86.

Allll riiiiiiight. Ok scatch that. Neverland ranch, neverland ranch......

Being fluent in French at 15 is a unique gift.

Sportboy, stop trying to pull moves and whip out a yellow pages and find some nightclasses. French along with Spanish are the easiest two foreign languages to learn. Italian too, but it helps if you speak French, alot of the words are very similar. Russian = pain in the preverbial arse. German?!? = *cough* *cough* *splutter* Meh? Cancel your vacation to Dusseldorf, mein Freund....

Sportboy, it's not because we are on the french forum that you necessarily need to play the "joli coeur".

Don't scare female posters, we need more of them here.
