No thanks..
If you think Moreno is injury prone, wait till you get a load of Wolff, who by the way has never scored more than 10 goals in a single MLS season..

A healthy, fit and motivated Moreno is better than any of those, but the jury is still out on whether there will ever be any sightings of that player at DC United again. :( Faria is a dynamite scorer for low money. Frankly, he provides as many points as you would want from an SI, is rarely if ever injured, has great stamina and very good speed and size, can create and finish, and apparently has a good attitude.
Just because he has difficulty finishing a boatload of chances people rag on him, but the kid is good. If he scores that many goals, he's a good forward, regardless of how many others he misses.
I wouldn't touch Wolff with a 10' pole because he is injury-prone. United has waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many injury-prone players. There are a lot of forwards I would like to add but Wolff isn't one of them. United has zero scorers that are durable.
If I were given the choice of those three players, I'd choose Faria. He scores and he's cheap, all of the other stuff is just icing on the cake.

An interesting compensation--giving up Faria for Bradley's contract. The original word was it would be a first round pick. I assume that Wilt preferred a young, relatively cheap player who has already produced in this league. However, I don't see Razov (who's basically a poacher) and Faria matching up very well. Still, you add Wolff to that mix and they would have talent and goal scoring ability on the frontline (it's just that Wolff doesn't stay healthy, and Razov and Faria don't appear to mesh well--at least on their face). So maybe it's to acquire Faria before dealing/selling Wolff or Razov?
You have to figure that Chicago is going to get an extensive remake. Jeffries or Sarachan--I'd think either one would clear cap room by either dumping Stoichkov or Nowak or both. And they'd have their own players they'd want to bring in.
Also, as I've posted in many other threads, I respect Wolff but he's the last man DCU would want (despite his talent, nationality, speed, insight off the ball). He's a streaky finisher and makes Moreno look like an iron man.

Actually, Chicago got Faria AND a conditional draft pick ( I think it was to be no worse than 12th ).

Yep, Faria and a draft pick in the 2004 SuperDraft of the 12th or higher spot.
That allows Bradley to draft Alecko Eskandarian #2 overall this season and also keep the #5 overall pick, while losing Faria only opens up a second SI spot. I suspect the Metros will be very good next season. We'll need to significantly improve to stand any chance in 2003.
Rapids adding Grimandi and getting a healthy Spencer back. Crew's young backline is maturing. Revolution are jelling and will replace the salaries of Chacon and Rooney and add a healthy Serna. The Fire get Faria and maybe Sarachan to coach them as well as injury returns like Armas, Wolff and Nowak. Quakes get Agoos and Donovan back full time. The Burn's excellent youngsters mature. That only leaves KC as a side that we don't yet know whether they will improve. We have a lot of work to do.

wasn't it a given on some of these boards that Wolff was going to be traded (likely to Col.)?
Also, I'd take a HEALTHY Moreno over Faria any day.
Actually, I hate Faria. I don't need the Atlantic Cup, or any make up rivalries to hate the North Jersey squad. Faria, (Diallo, Comas) Lisi, Jolley, and MLS Mathis more than do the trick.

Maybe we should have a cup with KC?
And your list of hated swamp players is merely the tip of the iceberg....you don't even have Petke.....

I would like to have Faria on our team.
But, I think he's too tall to play forward for us. :)

D-tron, I think it's way too early to talk about how everyone has improved. The reality is that most teams face the annual cap crunch. SJ will definitely say goodbye to some players (they are talking about losing Cannon and/or Barrett unless they lose Donovan). Even Ramos' retirement doesn't make it all hunky-dory for the SoS. Chicago faces a massive cap crunch.
What Miami showed in 2001 is that you can improve significantly by clearing out your roster and making smart choices (even if many of those choices are short-term solutions: Preki, Bishop, APC, Llamosa obviously weren't guys to build a franchise around for the next 5 years. But then, other than Cienfuegos/Jones and Etcheverry/Moreno, who has been around for 5+ years with any MLS side to serve as a key foundation for success?), you can produce a winner overnight.

I wouldn't call getting Grimandi an improvement. He was mediocre to awful at Arsenal. I also think that a year older Agoos will struggle this season.

Mediocre to awful at one of the top EPL clubs (and I disagree)...yea, that definitely disqualifies him for MLS play... Come on, Grimandi may not be a "super star" but he is a quality midfielder and if he plays with desire will be a major contributor at any club he goes to...
As for Faria, I'm glad he's not coming to DC. DC used to have a finisher that missed boatloads of chances - ATC. He was shipped out because the team didn't like him and basically refused to work with him. Why would Faria, who also misses quite a few chances, succeed where others have failed?

I'd agree that ity's way to early to say if any team has improved or not.
Take Chicago- so many folks are saying that Wolff is to be traded away, but who in their right mind would take him unless Chicago picked up most of his max salary? It seems more likely that Razov will be traded. IMO Razov would improve our team nicely though I'm not sure who I'd trade for him- it all depends on who Hudson is developing a liking to on his overseas trips.

Faria hasn't been injured. This means either a) he's not willing to sacrifice his body for the team, or b) he is due for one soon. This guy will have to practice against Kovalenko, right?
Yes, Faria has scored lots of goals. Many of those goals have come on PKs but, hey, at least he makes them.
I think we'll wind up getting Wolff for the #1 pick.

I predict that Ray comes back home with Michael Owen who is tired of the British press. Let's make Michael the DC United rumor like the Metrodonkeys have Weah and Baggio.

Thinking back - DC got no compensation when we lost our coach.
I think we demand a USMNT player as our compensation. I want JOB!
