So, there's a new section on the FIFA WC site for accommodations, and an option to pick up a TSR and follow a specific team by what I assume would be camping out at hotels near the three group games for twelve nights. The cheapest USA TSR shakes out to $3,400 - I imagine some of that price is from a convenience factor.

I'm not sure that's the best I can do, but is that one of the most crappy options in the box, is what I want to know. Note that since getting there and around is trouble enough, I'd rather enjoy this vacation in a nice-but-not-the-least-bit-gaudy hotel.

I don't think its money well spent even though it gives you piece of mind.

Here's my perspective:

I booked a 3-bedroom flat in Berlin for 3 weeks (9-JUN through 30-JUN). I'm sharing it with 10 People (no more then 8 at any one time). We have 4 Single Beds, 2 couches and 2 air mattreses in a renovated building in Berlin-mitte. The rent for the flat is EURO 134/night.

Based on 153 Man/nights for my group, for 21 nights, my average cost/night is $24.89 USD.

What the fifa accomodation offers you is:
* 12 nights
* Euro 2760 * (xch rate 1.3) = $3588 USD
* Price per night $299 USD

If you were fortunate enough to split your hotel room with 4 friends you're still paying $74.75 USD a night

PROS/CONS:
* A PRO for the FIFA option is you're guaranteed hotel rooms in the venues
* A CON for my option is that I need to book some additional nights of accomodation for the various venues IFthey are not in Berlin or in 5 surrounding venues that are 2 hours or less of a train ride.
* A PRO for my option is that I get 21 nights out of the deal
* A PRO for my option is that it's 66.7% cheaper per night. Thats a lot of extra drinking in my opinion! :cool:

none the less I think you can do better plus if you're in Berlin, you can always crash at our place on an air mattress for $30/night!
