I had a look at the topscorers of the big leagues since 1968 multiplying the number of goals scored by 2 so that the lesser leagues' top scorers wouldn't interfere, similar to how France Football is doing it since 1997.

Leagues multiplied by 2 are Italy, Spain, Germany, England and Holland. So if France Football had done it like this since the start of the Golden Boot award, the winners would have been these players:

year-points-player (club)
1968 56 Kindvall (Feijenoord), Davies (Southampton) & Best (Manchester)
1969 60 G Müller (Bayern), van Dijk (Twente) & Kindvall (Feijenoord)
1970 76 G Müller (Bayern)
1971 56 A Brown (West Brom)
1972 80 G Müller (Bayern)
1973 72 G Müller (Bayern)
1974 60 G Müller (Bayern) & Heynckes (M’Gladbach)
1975 60 Geels (Ajax)
1976 58 Geels (Ajax) & Fischer (Schalke)
1977 68 Geels (Ajax) & D Müller (Köln)
1978 60 Geels (Ajax) & Latchford (Everton)
1979 68 Kist (AZ 67)
1980 54 Kist (AZ 67)
1981 58 Rummenigge (Bayern)
1982 64 Kieft (Ajax)
1983 60 Houtman (Feijenoord)
1984 64 Rush (Liverpool)
1985 52 K Allofs (Köln)
1986 74 van Basten (Ajax)
1987 68 H Sanchez (Real)
1988 58 H Sanchez (Real) & Kieft (PSV)
1989 70 Baltazar (Atletico)
1990 76 H Sanchez (Real)
1991 62 Chapman (Leeds)
1992 58 Wright (Palace/Arsenal)
1993 58 Bebeto (La Coruna)
1994 66 Cole (Newcastle)
1995 68 Shearer (Blackburn)
1996 62 Shearer (Blackburn) & Pizzi (Tenerife)

Any reason why Portugal goalscorers can´t be multiplied by 2?!

Actually I think that only Spain, Italy, England and Germany should be multiplied by 2. Leagues like Holland and Portugal should be multiplied by 1,5.

Well, that was quite a dilemma. Holland in the late-60s and throughout the 70s was a real force in European club football, so I couldn't really exclude them. Just multiplying them with 1.5 didn't look right considering how their clubs ruled Europe for quite some time.

Portugal were massive in the early/mid-60s, but by the early 70s, their league didn't seem to be that strong anymore. I mean, a guy like Hector Yazalde scored 46 goals in 1974. Couldn't really multiply that with 2.

I would add Belgium to the 1.5 group, especially during the 70s.

Only the 70s were poor we were a force again in the 80s and i dare to say until now.
P.S. Yazalde as far as i know was a great player, more recently Jardel scored 40 in the league :) but besides Jardel a few years ago, isn´t normal seeing someone scoring more than 20 to 25 goals in Portugal.
