It just released today, and already there's a patch.
Of course. You should be thankful that sigames are such a great developer.

Bought it yesterday and 'tis an awesome game :)
I didn't buy FM'05, because I decided to wait for CM but FM is 10 times the game Championship Manager is now. Respect to SI

My tenure at Boro ended towards the end of 2017. We were sitting in 5th in the Premier League. The team I had assembled needed to be winning in Europe to pay for their high expenses and that wasn't happening. My cash balance was about down to zero and I knew the off-season would be full of triming instead of buying for future success. I think the 2015/16 season finishing 2nd in the Premier League was the best I was going to do with them when the board wouldn't expand the stadium as I was selling it out on a regular basis.
So when the Valencia job opened up and I was picked by the media as a front runner, I couldn't let it pass. I haven't coached in my native Spain, aside from the national team, in 10 years. I figured now would be a great time to return because my Barca team had all moved on and they weren't dominating as they had. I applied for Valencia, was accepted and delighted to learn the club gave me a $120 million transfer budget. We finished the season in 4th, qualifying for champions league. The club has been doing very well of late, they are ranked 5th in the European rankings. I have some work to do to keep that up.
There are a lot of foreign players on the squad. I need to sell some of them in the off-season and bring in some EU role players. We have a good base but need to strengthen on the attack. Defense is good with Kasper Schmichael in goal. I need to sign three or four guys and I think we'll make a good run at some hardware.

If any of you are a non-massive club, have a look for Dudu Cearense at the start of the game. He is on a free and plays superb in the DM role.
Another player of a similar standard is Emil Jensen. Either Swedish or Danish (one of them), a D RL that can play both sides very well and will cost well under half a million.
In two seasons as Hartlepool, Adam Boyd scored 38 in League One and then 28 in the Championship as the lone striker in front of 2 AMs. Have a look at him.

I'm managing Coventry City on FM06. So far, we're hovering around a playoff spot after a horrible start while I figured out the game. Offloaded a lot of high wages and replaced them with younger players, so the board is happy they are making a modest profit. Out of the Carling first round, but I use my reserves in them anyway.
Training has been the hardest thing about this game for me. I keep reading on other sites about people hiring 20 coaches or something to get their training up to snuff. However, my club has no money, so I have to keep the same five crappy coaches I started with.

I don't bother with training much, maybe I should. I let the assistant manager handle it. Right now I'm having injury issues so I'm going to hire a couple more physios and 5 more coaches.

I don't know how Physios fit in anymore. Before in FM2005, you would assign Physios, now Idk, unless I missed something.

A simple way to improve your training without diving too deep is to just make sure you have a decent core of at least 5 coaches, then tick off a couple of the options from each one until you see the stars go up on their specialties.

Tony, can you go into more detail on what you mean by: "tick off a couple of the options from each one until you see the stars go up on their specialties." Where do you do this?
Thanks.

In the Training Screen when you select 'Coaches' , it shows you each coach and his schedule. The default is for every coach to be placed on ALL schedules, but that heeds the minimum results. What you SHOULD do is specialize by assigning the schedules to the Coaches based on Attributes related to that Training Regimen.
For example, a Coach with a HIGH Defence Coaching rating should be coaching Defence.

In WWSM/FM 05 it doesn't rate the coaches by what position it coaches best. If you tell an assistant to handle training, will this be changed or will I have to go in and change?

me too. it's the '08-'09 campaign. i'm managing wednesday, now the top club in england, won the prem twice, and i just sold eddie gaven (21 yrs old now) to liverpool for $30M... he was only valued at 8.4M. they wanted to know how much i would sell him for, and i threw it out there. he was developing so nicely, i didn't really want to sell him, but if they would pay 30M for him, what the hell.
my #1 lineup looks something like this:
--------vonlanthen-----------mokoena
nakamura---------donovan----------wilhelmson
-------------------guarin
ashley cole---nigel de jong---tomas hubschman---sun jihai
my #2 lineup has players like veron, mirosevic, cavenaghi, adu, petter vaagan moen, andres felipe gonzalez, spector, and a young wing-back out of holland named van putten.
mokoena finished 2nd last year for player of the year to mauro esposito of newcastle. it was an absolute sham that mokoena didn't win. he had 29 league goals (more than 10 over second place), and was even some .2 or .3 higher in overall rating. shunsuke nakamura won the award the year before.
i picked up donovan on a free from leverkusen this past offseason... his value with wednesday is now listed at 44M, and his salary is a rather robust 5.6M/year.
hillsborough has been expanded to 55k+, my payroll budget is 136M while my actual payroll is only around 63M, my transfer budget (after the gaven sale) is 83M.

Jesus, Vincent Kompany is crazy good in FM06. After a really crap 2nd season as Valencia, I signed him and am now not only undefeated at December 1st but have also won every match save a home draw against Dortmund in the Champions' League.
They seem to have really given the CONCACAF players a boost in this one - the USA is full of great youth prospects, and the Mexican national team is crazy good (Kikin Fonseca is an almost perfect target man and Ochoa becomes almost as good as Casillas after a few seasons).

Leo Messi is ridiculous in FM06. It's midway through December and his average rating is a 9. That's like a Maradona level of domination.

After almost a full season at the helm of Valencia I all of a sudden got the axe. I had the team in the top three of La Liga and one day I was fired. Came out of no where. I was very surprised. I think it is because I offered one of my rotation players to a bunch of clubs after I had paid $20 million for him in the off-season from my old club, Boro. Not sure.
I landed on my feet quickly. Around the same time as my sacking the FC Bayern job opened up. I haven't coached in Germany yet so I jumped at the chance. Another rich club, with an impressive youth system and great support. At the time I took over, with 4 league matches remaining, they were in second place in the Bundesliga. I won those 4 matches and Shalke stumbled in their last two so I stole the title.
In the off-season I spent a good amount of cash to stregthen for a European Champions League run. I'm currently in December of the 18/19 season and I made it out of a tough group; Chelsea, Betis & Milan. In the first knockout stage I was gifted with a northern European team I should be able to handle...I hope.
I've had a great run in the Bundesliga as well. I'm top of the table, clear by 8 points halfway through the season. I've only allowed 11 goals while scoring 30+. I don't want to say the race is over, but in 18 matches I've lost 3 and drawn 2. Things are looking good for another league title.
The Old Lady Hertha
15 Dec 2005, 06:15 PM
I'm manager of Hertha BSC and Everton right now. I'm in the middle of February.
Hertha are 1st in die Bundesliga, 8 pts ahead of Bayern. Top scorer: Yildiray Basturk. I bought Slovakian international center back Martin Skrtel for a mere 100K, he's a steal, definitely get him, he's only 20. Another steal is Sweden U-21 Pontus Wernblom, he's going to be a great DM prospect for you, only 19 and he's already a squad member.
Everton are 3rd in the EPL. James Beattie and Marcus Bent inexplicably have 22 goals between them, Tim Cahill in 21 games (he's been jaded and needed much rest) still has 22 goals total. Leon Osman and James McFadden have been in great form, Kroldrup and Yobo as well in defense. Got a 23 million pound offer for Cahill and Yobo from Manchester United, rejected both.
Had a brief spell as Slovenian NT coach but couldn't cut it and got fired after 4 games.
Btw, is there a patch for the German NT?? I can't manage it and none of the real players play. :(
