No, I'm not talking about those pathetic shut-in geeks who inhabit threads on BigSoccer devoted soley to passing out "rep" so they can all pretend to have big Johnsons.

Rather, there's a shocking trend in entertainement to BAN NIPPLES on TV.

Write your Congressman.

From Desperate House-wives' deployment of digital nipple-erasers to Victoria's Secret's nipple-negating bras, a campaign is under way to conceal one of the natural features of the female breast.
The producers of TV's Desperate Housewives have reportedly spent thousands of dollars digitally removing the nipples from on-screen images of actresses Teri Hatcher and Nicolette Sheridan.

Ok, you can't show breasts. When a woman goes on TV and takes her top off, out comes the black box. With that, the nipples are covered.

You CAN show nipples, if they're showing through a see-through dress.

Lovely. Just lovely. In regards to censorship, this whole country's gone effing haywire and has no idea what to do. The rules don't exist, because they're changing every day.

There's also rumors about the censorship of premium TV (HBO, showtime, etc.) and satellite radio.

---------
"There were 11,000 adult titles last year versus 400 releases in Hollywood."

The porn business is estimated to total between $10 to $14 billion annually in the United States when you toss in porn networks and pay-per-view movies on cable and satellite, Internet Web sites, in-room hotel movies, phone sex, sex toys and magazines."

----------

It's already started, and it's going to get worse before it gets better. The watchdog groups are picking up steam and are going to censor the (heck) out of TV, radio, etc. And why?? Because it's "in the nation's best interest."

I'd like to give a big sarcastic "thank you" to these groups for telling me what I can and can't see on TV.

And the wonder of it all?? Cable boxes and satellite receivers have parental control. TVs have built-in v-chips. Movies AND TV shows all have ratings and various warnings, and they're still complaining about too much porn being seen on TV?

Hell, I can't sit through 24 without seeing "TV 14" after every commercial break and both hearing and seeing "This program contains scenes of lifelike violence and strong language. Parental discretion is strongly advised."

I read the other day that fully 70% of the in-room movies rented in motels are porn.

The average viewing time is 12 minutes.

Which led a smartmouth woman I know to ask what those guys are doing with the extra seven minutes, but I have no idea what she could be talking about.

So when Bush talks about the strength of the economy, is he including this country's porno habit??

Seriously, you have to wonder how much of the economy consists of adult-related entertainment and related accessories, and if you take that away, then what's left?

So, who's going to go back and edit all those episodes of Friends where Jennifer Aniston was smuggling raisins? Or King of Queens where Leah Remini was sprouting nubbies?

As Howard Stern would say, "The best way to end the war in Iraq would be to expose that country to adult pornography."

I mean really, after that is there really anything left fighting for?

Anyone remember his fartman character? He'd just call up the embassy as fartman, pretending to threaten to drop plastic bags of farts over Iraq.

Since you have chosen to make this about politics, instead of just something for fun, then I'm certain you have some evidence you can cite for this statement.

So please, share your source with us. Be specific.

Otherwise, you're just another douchebag who has to take every damned thing and turn it into some sort of political crap.

From the desk of Walter Cronkite:

"Dear Friend,

When I anchored the evening news, I kept my opinions to myself.
But now, more than ever, I feel I must speak out.

That's becasue I am deeply disturbed by the dangerous and growing influence of people like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell on our nation's political leaders."

This is the introduction to a forward I received today to information provided by The Interfaith Alliance, which supports free speech, the separation of church and state, and religious tolerance in the face fascism under the guise of the Christian Coalition and other groups of the religious right.

Fascism is my explanation for Falwell's famous remark: "[We] will not adopt 'inclusive' policies to accept other religious teachings." Aka, 'my way or the highway' or 'this is MY America, you are not wanted here.'

You won't find an endorsement of porno at www.interfaithalliance.org, but you will find, according to Walter, a "diverse group of people of faith and good will who promote tolerance, respect and the inherent dignity of all human beings."

Nipples included.

And Brent Bozell's group taking issue with Paris Hilton writhing half naked while smearing herself with soapy water is analagous to Teri Hatcher;s nips HOW exactly?

I searched in vain for any mention of nipple taping in the article you referenced. Perhaps I missed it. You're making up a connection which isn't there.
