-Pires expected to be back, but we're missing Bergy, Jeffers (huh? he only played 20 minutes - oh, the official site says "stomach bug" - what a hard man), Parlour, Keown, GVB. Possible doubts about Vieira, Henry, and Campbell.

-One more win sees us through to the next round.

-Happy early birthday to Arsene Wenger, who turns 53 tomorrow.

-Who's doing PBP?

I might be able to do pbp with the assistance of Arsenal.com live text. Can't see to find any free internet broadcast of any games. Only highlights with talk sport.net. Don't know if that will be any help.

Soccernet usually does a text pbp. Arsenal's livetext seems slow to me.

I find uefa.com's text pbp to be good, plus you can keep tabs on the other games.

Although this website is not a PBP, it is probably the best live update for soccer scores. The website is www.livegoal.net

This one's pretty good, too, and shows scorers and cards:

Does anyone think that the French opposition has a chance? I know we are coming off a bad performance on Sat but this is a midweek at home. I believe Henry scores 2 and may get that elusive hat trick. I see 3 points and a cruise into round number 2.

I don't see any chance for the French side for a lot of reasons. One that I don't think anyone has mentioned -- Djibril Cisse is out.

As long as they don't have any 16 year olds, I think we're fine. ;)

Good news that Pires is back even if he does start on the bench. We should have enough to beat Auxerre at home, although I don't think it will be an easy game. They looked very good technically in the first game and the onus will be on us to go out and attack as the home side. I get the feeling they are a bit like us, better on the break.

Auxerre will be without Djibril Cissé for the trip to Highbury with a foot injury. Fellow striker Olivier Kapo is doubtful because of a calf problem, so Arnaud Gonzalez is on stand-by. Combative midfielder Teemu Tainio will return from injury, while Senegal's Khalilou Fadiga is back after suspension.

Comfortably 2-0 for the Gunners, they will be ready to avenge Wayne Rooney and they don't sound too down about the loss. It was a blessing in disguise for Arsenal and Aaron "the Greek" thinks the goals will come from.... wait for it....

Henry and Pires.

official prematch report from UEFA.com

Arsenal know that victory tonight will guarantee progression into the second group stage, but Auxerre could be eliminated if they lose and BV Borussia Dortmund defeat PSV Eindhoven in the other Group A encounter.
Arsenal are still without Dennis Bergkamp and Martin Keown, so Nwankwo Kanu and Pascal Cygan continue to deputise. Creative midfield player Robert Pires returns to the bench after six months out with a knee ligament problem. Auxerre welcome back Senegal international Khalilou Fadiga after suspension, and Olivier Kapo has recovered from a calf strain. However Djibril Cissé's foot injury rules him out.

Arsenal will more than likely want to win this game so against PSV and Dortmund, they can rest a few player so it might free up some playing time for Jefferies, Toure, and a few others.
