GolTV really needs to stick with the European-based commentators. Having to hear these clowns during good matches ruins it for me. Another thing to gripe about is having the commentator sound at 90% and the game audio at 10%. C'mon guys get this :eek: together!!

Some other abomination with a French name ending in "x" but I can't recall at the moment whose name it was. It's the kind of thing that is embarrassing even for those sitting on their couches thousands of miles away.

For so long I thought the other guy had some sort of speech impediment, but finally broke down and asked a co-worker from Mexico what would be the proper way, and learned something about Spanish in Mexico vs Spain. A Mexican would pronounce Garcia the way Tommy does, and a Spaniard would pronounce it the way the other guy would.

But it's still freaking annoying to hear one guy's name pronounced differently in 20 seconds, constantly.

Below is the email i sent to goltv today in regards to this issue. I just cant take anymore of it and the Juve-Inter game today was the last straw.

"First of off - you do show good Serie A and La Liga matches to the US-based fan and that is wel appreciated.If this mail gets to you on time, you should notice the Juventus - Inter game is still on. Unfortunately, i have the game on mute just so i wouldnt listen to the commentary, why would you have your studio clowns run a game like this? Its just unbelieveable. Let me remind you that there is competition all around you - i have switched between two satelite companies within the last year just to get the channel i want. Its imperative you shelve the idea of having your studio clowns run commentary for Seria A and La Liga games or stand the risk of losing customers to other channels. Let me remind you that Fox Soccer Channel does run seria games, though they are not top-notch games but from a true soccer fan, i would switch to watch FSC or watch Scottish league on Setanta. Its absurd you would consider these two running a Juve-Inter game. The producer of this game should be fired.

PS: I am posting this mail on bigsoccer, too often your channel ruins big games by having clowns like schoen and the others run commentary. I do not have a problem with your game schedule but PLEASE get rid off the studio and non-european commentary. I give Derek Rae props for the "Gar-THEE-uh"...I've definitely noticed it and appreciate announcers who pronounce names properly (not like Bretos' exaggerations, however).

I heard an announcer last week on the Arsenal match refer to Hleb as "Ha-leb" which was amusing. Granted, pronouncing Hleb does require a bit of a throat clearing.

What are the names of the two fantastic commentators - the Euro based original commentators who do the Serie A matches? TLN (Canadian) kept the coverage w/ them for the Juve v Inter match today... which leaves me to beg why GOLTV didn't keep the original broadcast.

"Thank God someone else brought this up!! I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand these substitute announcers. I absolutely cringe everytime when I find out that Ray Hudson and Phil Schoen are doing a La Liga or Serie A match. They provide no intelligent commentary and are certainly not easy on the ears.

Now the original commentators (Paul Green Turner, his other English counterpart who cover La Liga, and the two Irish blokes who cover Serie A) are brilliant. They are there at the stadium and living in the country. They can give you some intelligent commentary because they know what is going on on a daily basis. Plus they are all easy on the ears. :)

Unless there is absolutely no English commentary coming from the league itself, I certainly don't mind having Schoen or Hudson doing something because its better than nothing. However, if there is original English commentary then please don't cover it up with those two clowns. Thank you."

Now I have thoroughly have enjoyed GolTV's coverage, but having to suffer through another Hudson & Schoen announcing of a LaLiga or Serie A match is really asking too much. I hope that Constantine sees this thread and makes sure that the problem is solved. I would hate to see their standards lowered by these horrible announcers when there is already perfectly excellent English language commentary provided.

Anyone else notice that Goltv is having more sound balance problems of late? I was watching the AC Milan match and the crowd noise was a little louder than usual while the announcers were at whisper level. They also had this problem with some UEFA Cup coverage.

I am really looking forward to hear from Constantine about this. I am a big fan of Goltv and nothing against the quality of matches they broadcast but please, stick with the ground european announcers. The pair on the AC Milan vs Reggina game are perfect, Paul Greene Turner and crew on LaLiga games are awesome.

This year i have watched more UEFA CUP games than i did all of last season primarily becos the announcers are on ground europeans, please dont change this.

I don't want to criticise because after 45 years of following football, I have learned that although I believe a players name is definetly pronounced one way, I am usually corrected by people from the players country. Unless it is a popular player, I understand why other players names might be mispronounced. Unlike American Football, there so much more names in football you have to know. Back home we laugh at Yanks that mispronounce typical English names, yet they believe they are 100% correct, especially when it comes to football clubs (Tottenham, Leicester, Portsmouth, etc). That said, I don't want to pass judgement on anyone because a Spanish name will flow out of my English throat differently then a Spaniard, although my Mexican mate is teaching me a few words. He has a fellow countryman friend named John, but it is said and sounds differently in Mexico. It is more of a JOAN sounding. Really odd. But that is how it is pronounced. I called him John, and they say NO its JOAN. I would rather they be slightly off with the name, then the information. Now that REALLY irritates me!
