Article basically says Ryan is upset that his new manager Mark Hughes that he won't let him play in New Zeland's upcoming friendly with Australia. This seems a bit harsh as it is only for one game in the off season and its taking place right in England. Watch for the same thing to happen to Nelsen as happened with Brad Friedel playing for Blackburn, a "decision to retire" from international play after being pressured by his manager.

I dobut it, Nelsen is in the prime of his career, is the captain of his national team, and I assume has no serious competition for his spot. Friedel had none of those when he made his decision. IIRC he just had his first kid, his place in the lineup wasn't a lock, and he didn't want to fight Keller (and at the time, Howard) for that spot.
