Just a thought. In his entire senior career, Richardson has played 12 games with West Brom and, what, 25-35 with Man Utd? Has there ever been a senior English international with less actual match experience?

Hmmmm. How old was Rooney? he can't have had much first team experience. He made his debut in 2003? That's the season he debuted for Everton iirc.

He had a full season and a bit over him at that stage though.

???? He debuted in February 2003. That was he was senior breakthrough season at Everton...
2002/2003 - I'm pretty sure of it.
Not even a full season in his senior career.

Mr.Rooney became England’s youngest ever player (at 17 years and 111 days) in his debut against Australia.
What about that young fogey Michael Owen in the WC in 1998 and he was what 18?

Fair enough. I thought it was at the start of his second season. I was talking about actual matches and not age btw (ganu) (because Richardson obviously isn't the youngest), but I suppose Rooney gets the award in that case anyway!

IIRC Gary Neville had about 20 games for Manchester Utd when he made his debut.

rooney probably had around 20 premiership appearances when he first played for england v australia in 2003 (2002/3 was his first season and the australia game was in february), richardson has only played in 16 premiership games, but 33 first team matches in total so he has slightly more experience. probably.
