My brother reckons trez is better and that ibra has not been one of the top 5 strikers this season.

i think he has been at least 'arguably' one of the top five. only a few strikers can say that they have had a better season; henry, shev, adriano, eto'o in my opinion. plus i think he is much better than trez when it come to his overall play.

What do you guys think? opinions please

What about Makaay? He had a better season than Ibra. Rooney had a great season, so did D. Forlan. I don't know - he's definately not top 5 yet, but he IS good.

I don't think you can compare Ibra to Trez, Trezeguet is there just to score goals while Ibra likes to dribble, pass- of course, he's a better all-around player. (Although, he's not a finisher - can you imagine if he was!)

But, Ibra has been amazing for his first season in Serie A. There are infuriating things like anyone AT ALL allowing him to take a free kick, moments when he passes instead of shoots/shoots instead of passes.

But, he'll get better with his decision making.

oh, I think one hand is insufficient to count how many times he's headbutted people this season, (that's not counting clothes-lining Cordoba!), he's been tremendously lucky to get away with each and every one.

andy johnson!!!!. ibrahimovic is a great player but in terms of top 5, i think not.

1) Sheva
2) Adriano
3) Henry
4) Ronaldo
5) Rooney (no1 will agree!!!!)

Ibrahimovic has been awsome this season, IMO hes been top 5, and I guarantee in about 2 years or maybe even next year he will be the best striker in Europe.

Yes Ibra had been good this year but not quite in the top 5 maybe the top 10. He is really good in the air and he scores a lot of goals.

Ailton??? What good has he done to Schalke this year, he scored 14 goals.

Ailton was crap this season......no way was he one of the top performers.

Makaay, Sheva, Henry, Ibrahimovic, Kuyit and Eto were really the outstanding and CONSISTENT strikers.

Ibrahimovic

Not necesserily in that order.

If Johnson makes it with half his goals from PKs and only getting 20odd? then

Alberto Gilardino (PARMA)
Vincenzo Montella (A.S.ROMA)
Cristiano Lucarelli (LIVORNO)
Luca Toni (PALERMO)
Ricardo Olivera (Real Betis)
...Marek Mintal who lead Bundesliga scoring but is middie so he's left out.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a brat! He's spoilt rotten, but he can get away with it most of the time becuase he is supremely gifted.

Zlatan with some additions to his game like finishing, some simple play rather than extravagant play all the time, teamwork and healthy dose of self control!

Ball control, power, aerial strength, reading of the game all exceptional.

I tell you this as a staunh, die-hard JUVE fan.

He can be among the elite strikers in Europe sooner rather than later.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Alberto Gilardino
Antonio Cassano
Adriano
Samuel Eto'o
Wayne Rooney (if he can simmer down now!)

These guys will replace the likes of Shevchenko, Henry, Ronaldo, Makaay, Vieri, Raul as the UBBER strikers in Europe. They may already be great but those 6 as everyone should know are still young and will only get better.

do you want to check minutes played? Ronaldo is passed his prime and nowhere in the Top 10 worldwide most of his goals came against crappy opposition late in the season

Like how he scored against Barcelona, Villarreal, Real Sociedad (away) or Atletico Madrid (arguably the best pair of CDs in the league)? How can you say he is not in the top 10? Only Eto'o, Henry, Shevchenko, Adriano and Makaay are in his same league, let alone above him.

We can also put Flachi(Sampdoria) and di Michele(Udinese)...even Júlio Baptista, without being a CF,can join.(Since this is a UEFA topic,I won't put Robinho until he plays at an UEFA squad).

I have 2 lists - World Top Strikers and another with Very Good...

And Ibrahimovic IMO stays at second list...but without doubt he can join the first.Same with Rooney. But Montella,di Michele,Toni,Furlan,Oliveira...hm,no.I think they have limits that a Rooney or Ibrahimovic don't - like Adriano,Henry or Eto'o don't have.

You are right, Ronaldo is past his prime, he is still good though, not among the elite but hasn't fully lost it.....yet.

Anyone read about the Brazilian coach warning him? HAHAH..hillarious, this guy seems quite lazy...legend my ass.

Everytime I read posts like this I have to chuckle. They remind me
of a comment Simon Kuper of the Financial Times once made: "Poor
Ronaldo has become an idea. He scored 8 goals at the World Cup
but people wonder why he didn't score 10."

my list for this season is:

Eto'o
Henry
Sheva
Adriano (slowed down towards the end)
Gilardino
Rooney
Forlan (i can't put him above Rooney, it would destroy me)
Zlatan
Montella
Olivera

special mention: Cisse (great recovery)

There's no argument for Zlatan being one of the world's
top 5 strikers. The guy scored 0 goals in this year's
Champions League (less than Del Piero, shockingly) and
he's not even in the top 5 of Italy's scoring chart (Lucarelli,
Gilardino, Montella, Toni, Vucinic).

Surely Sheva, Eto'o, Adriano, Makaay, Henry, Gilardino,
Ronaldo, etc., are better strikers?

'Zlatan fever' comes about from the love of his showboats,
I believe. (Most of which result in him being cleanly dis-
possessed of the ball, I'd add . . .)

Sempre,

I think you are being to hard on Zlatan. He came from the dutch league... ok they had PSV going strong in CL this season, but it isn't exactly the strongest league in the world now is it (no offence to all the dutchies round here)

He had to adapt to the Italian style of play and was often played by Capello as a target man not an all out striker.

He played almost every minute of every game and he never really f-ed up. On the contrary the gave a few brilliant assists and scored a few nice goals. If he can do that in his first season, I just tell myself it can only get better....
