Any other DC-area refs on this board working this one this weekend?

If I were in town, I'd be doing Potomac, as always. I played in that the very first year they held it as a U-10 (and every year thereafter), so I have an affinity for it.

But I'm out of town starting tomorrow morning. I am doing one match, a center for U17 boys, tonight at 6:30 at Soccerplex #12.

That's ten minutes from my house. Maybe I'll swing by and do an assessment. ;)

Honestly, I'd welcome it. I appreciate any and all feedback.

As long as it comes from referees, and not irate parents or players...

Of course to be in Germantown by 6:30, I pretty much have to leave downtown DC in about 5 minutes.

I'm sort of interested, though, as to why you are doing the Virginian instead of the Potomac Tournament, when you are so close to the Plex and to other fields they're using (I assume that includes Polo Grounds again this year).

Just wanted to try something new. I've done few tournaments for Bonnie (WAGS, CapCup, PWSI), and they're always well run.

Saturday was good, although I wasn't too impressed with the skill levels (U-15B, Premier Gold flight). Lots of parent/coach moaning and groaning the first day, which led to quite a few coach send-offs on Sunday (consensus among the refs was that we had let too much of it go on Saturday, so we really tightened up on Sunday, in that regard). I ended up doing ten matches in two days - thank God they were only 30-minute halves.

State Cup finals this weekend, then a break until the end of June and Veteran's Cup in Wilmington, NC. My feet are killing me.

Turned out to be a good tourney in my opinion. The weather front passed thru relatively fast saturday afternoon and only impacted one game with some wind, light rain (and a temperature drop), before the sun came back out. And yea, thank goodness for 30 min halves - I did 8 CR and 4 AR for the weekend..).

I had 8 in two days, and besides one broken arm, and one very rough semifinal match, I really didn't have any problems.
