Your very quick to deride other peoples posts, but you dont come out and commit yourself to your exact Opinion on what you would like to see happen next season ,, eh Billy lets hear some of your pearls of wisdom.
Should we keep RVN
should we allow Rio to leave the club if he demands to much money
should we attempt to buy a new midfield player,
And what do you think about Liverpool winning the Champions League, Arsenal winning the FA Cup, Chelsea winning the Premier League and Us winning nothing!
I voice my thoughts why dont you put your head on the Chopping block so that some of us can deride you when your opinion is proven wrong??

OK Andrew, I could have Mel B'd you again, but I've coem to the decision that that woudl be pointless and almost let you feel you were right on the matter. Do you really want to know how I feel? Do you really want my full insight? Do you really want an in-depth MtJohnian (;)) response to prove my points? Well get a cup of coffee and a sandwich, because you're going to be here for a while...

Do you want to know why you are one of them? Because you just seem to randomly pop up when the club is down and spit it. You have almost no respect for other people or other people's opinions. You are ignorant to what anybody else thinks and seem to prefer to keep it that way - do you even read other threads? You have no idea how to voice your opinion, it's almost as if you are an Arsenal/Chelsea fans sockpuppet (As many have pointed out before). Your opinions are often very fickle and not well-thought at all. You refer to instances from our darker days, but really seem to have very little knowledge of the current state of the club. In a nutshell; you just don't seem to get it, you don't seem to want to 'get it', and you seem especially irked by those that do 'get it'.
Should we keep RVN Well yes. For some crazy reason I think we should hold on to the msot prolific European striker in the history of our club and the Champions League. For some reason I think we should hold on to the guy that - when fit - scored 80 goals in 2 years. For some reason Ithink we should hold o on to arguably the best poacher in the game. For some reason I think we should hold on to our best natural finisher. For some reason I think we should holod onto one of the best penalty takers in the world. For some reason I think we should hold on to the target-man that if he regains fitness will be the perfect link to our creative geniueses of Scholes, Rooney & Ronaldo. I think we hsould hold on to one of our most important players during a summer transfer period when we cannot afford to buy somebody adequate to replace him. I also think we should hold on to one of the best - and perhaps our only - striker when it comes to holding the ball up for others to get forward. And for some reason I think we should stay loyal to striker who paid us back with a Gold Boot, Champions League top scorer, PFA Footballer of the year and over 100 goals in under comfortably 3 years after we stayed loyal to buying him from PSV from a much, much more seriosu injury than one to the Achilles.
should we allow Rio to leave the club if he demands to much moneyWe should do what we can to keep Rio at the club, and try to negotiate him down to £80,000/wk or less, especially as we have no other quality CBs. Especially because with all the mounting debt we will not be able to buy somebody good enough to replace him. Especially as with him at the back beside a sloppy (Silvestre) or solid-but-not-standout (Brown) CB, with and two below-average goalkeepers beinhd him and sometimes no defensive mid in front of them, we have had the 2nd best defense in the country. Especially as he is the most technically skilled CBs in the wordl. Especially because he is one of the fastest CBs in the world and is great in the air. Especially as he can put some of the worlds best - such as Henry - right in his pocket for the whole match. Especially as he is never a liability to give up a penalty or get a red card. However, if he will not agree to go for £80,000/wk or lower, we must let him go. Especially because of our current financial crises (indeed, the plural). Especially as he is nothing more than a mercenary and cannot point out past loyalty like Giggs, Scholes, Keane, et al. can. Especially as we have pressing needs in other area of the field - namely a Keane replacement, a Giggs successor, a top-quality goalkeeper, and many bench spots, that we probably cannot adequately fill without sellign players to raise funds that will obviously not come from the Satan's Leperachaun Offspring. Especially as it will make others question their wages and maybe want more money, too. So in conclusions... for under £80,000/wk - keep him. For over £80,000/wk - sell him, for a high, high price.
should we attempt to buy a new midfield player,Yes. We need a replacement for Keane. Fletcher seems to go forward a bit too much for this, but could do so in the future, if he beefs up a bit & gets more aggressive. Jones has yet to prove himself at first team level and is a long way off being our starting defensive midfielder, and as for Kleberson - anybody that Scholes can slap around, and that misses more matches with injury than he plays - can in essence, never dream of taking Keane's place - especially as he is far more creative/attacking than defesive. Do we need a Scholes replacement? No, but we should start looking at a young, value-for-money understudy to him that can fill in his role when necessary and that can eventually supplant Scholes - who will return to his form when we have a true defensive midfielder to do the dirty work, allowing him to get forward. Do we need a winger? Possibly, yes. The emergence of Keiran Richardson at West Brom (who I was advocating giving time beforehand) has shown that he is up to it in the Premiership, and he is young, meaning he can improve with time (much lkike Jones, Fletcher, Eagles, etc). The thing is that Richardson spent a lot of time in the middle of the pitch for West Brom, so he can also play as an understudy to Scholes if we do not have enough funds to do so after fulfilling our needs in other positions. So do we need a winger? Probably yes, but we don't need to break the bank for one.
And what do you think about Liverpool winning the Champions League,What od you htink I think? Obviously it's good to have the Champions Leauge trophy back at the Premiership, but this is Liverpool. Not only is this a matter of pride & rivalry, but it means they will have more money & prestige to be a better team next year... and Gerrard looks like staying. Three years ago it wasjust us & Arsenal; then Abramovitch came in and made it a three horse race. Now if Liverpool can capitalise on this opportunity correctly, it will be a four horse race, and Everton could be in the ascendency more than people give them credit for, too. The league just got a lot more competitive, and that obviously has to hurt our title chances. Still, it looks good that they won't get the chance to defend it next season.
Arsenal winning the FA Cup, Take a wild guess. BUT, while it means some of their posters giving us a hard tiem over the summer, it was a very heatening match. We had already beaten them in the two competitive games we played in the league (3 if would want to involve the Carling Cup), and they always complained about us 'kicking them off the pitch' (although their claims of that at Highbury are a joke). In this game we came out and thoroughly outplayed them in every area of the park, but just couldn't finish because Ruud wasnot fit & Lehmann had the game of his life. Now Arsenal might be satisfied with 2nd place and a very, very lucky FA Cup - their posters seem to be. We, on the other hand, are obviously not happy with 3rd & no silverware and as such, even though our first team beat Arsenal in our place, demolished them at theirs, and demolished them at Cardiff (then lost, unluckily on penalties) and so not only will we be trying (despite financial constraints) to raise money or more purchases over the summer, but our plkayers - young & old - will now be reminded of how painful it is to finish with nothing, despite coming so close, and will have a fire under them for a long, long time. People always look to 94-95 and say how unfortunate we were to not win the league against a sugar daddy's star-studded lineup, & lose against the run of play in the FA Cup Final, while some of our veterans and best players were aging... but that we had a good youth squad that could do things (but that we'd never win things with kids). Well guess what? We didn't win the league against a sugar Daddy's star-studded team, and we lost the FA Cup Final heavily against the run of play, and many of our best & most reliable players are aging veterans... but we have a great youth squad that can do things. Strange, eh? Sure we also have something much bigger & more sinister at the club in Glazer, but ******** it, we're Manchester United.
Chelsea winning the Premier League and Us winning nothing!Meh. I was obviously hopign we'd win it, but the luck fell Chelsea's way when it needed to and they deserved it.
I voice my thoughts why dont you put your head on the Chopping block so that some of us can deride you when your opinion is proven wrong??Correction: you don't seem to read any threads except those you create. I have been voicing my opinion on the Ruud issue, the Rio issue, the Glazer issue, the FA Cup Final, our league performance, our need to sign a midfielder, how I feel about Lvierpool winning the Champions League in many threads, in many forums. You just seem to be an accusing irnoramus; simple as. And it's not like I just go with the popular choice either - many people said Richardson would never uct it in the Premiership, but I've been abcking him for about 1.5 years now, and I've been one of Flethcer's biggest supporters for over a year, too... people have only began to come around to how good they are & how great they can become recently. I have expressed my opinions and considered the opinions of others in goodwill, with some thought and consider myself one of the more respected posters on this board, while you just seem to randomly walk in and point fingers at people, make wild, inane assessments, listen to nobody and then disappear until we suffer another hit, when you then return and kick the club in the nuts; nad as such, you are probably the least wlecome person in the whole multi-thousand strong BigSoccer community on these boards, barring ZANI. Good for you!

Apparently Given has been talking to Strachan. Something tells me that unless a large pile of money were involved, Newcastle wouldn't sell him to Utd. Direct competitor stuff.

I seriously, seriously, seriously doubt that Shay Given - one of the best keepers in the Premiership and one of the best pure shot-stoppers in the world, would move to the SPL, ala Bellamy. Especially as David MArshall looks so promising for them, and they have a lot of needs for ageing players outfield. And how would they afford him? Do you have a link, because I can't make head nor tail of this...

Why do people keep harping on about Robinson? He has had a great season ad is a top keeper (infact, I wanted us to look at hm for the last 2 years, if anybody wants to track the posts, because I'm not arsed), but Given has been proven over a longer period of time, and in the Champions League, and has done better with a poor defense at Newcastle than Robinsons did at Leeds. Besides that - and I would love to get Robinson,m odn't get me wrong - but he is unrealistic for many reasons.
1. Robinson plays for Spurs who are on the up & have many great young players. They look almost certain to be getting into Europe next season, and could even nip 4th place. Newcastle almost certainly will not.
2. Spurs are a rich, rich club. So are Newcastle, but Spurs are on the up and don't have many changes they need to fund. Newcastle do.
3. Robinson is very happy at Spurs, it would seem. Given has expressed his wanting to win silverware, and at this stage one must think is sick of not having a defense in front of him. If Given were to force the move, the price could drop considerably.
4. The media are very high on Robinson at the moment, which means he would cost more. Given is renouned as a quality keeper, but the media have been relatively quiet on him, so he wouldn't cost as much.
5. Robinson, for his great EPL season, has only been starting for England for a year or so and has played very, very few Champions League games - he is good as completely unproven at that level. Given has been the Republic of Ireland's starter for years and has been our best player over for the last 3 in a row. He has never had a bad game for us - that's the consistency Man United are looking for. Furthermore, when Newcastle played in the Champion's League he was one of their shining stars. He has been their best player for a few seasons now, too - barring Shearer. Just ask any of their fans.
