moving the ESC into the middle of the stadium alongside the other supporters who dont normally get involved? have the metronation on one side and the ESC on the other. may help get more people involved instead of it just being a few hardcore doing all the work. just an idea like but in england EVERYONE sings and joins in the fun as the song starting people are spread around the ground.

just an idea like.

and at sheffield wednesday where they have them guys with the drums in the middle of the main stand, you either join in or go insane from the beat.

MFO feel ESC is best (ob)seen (& not clearly heard) from a distance!

Frankly, I think it is an excellent suggestion. The problem is with GS, is that you would likely have to displace other season-ticket holders, which would not go over well with the MFO or the ticket-holders themselves. When we get a new stadium, ESC and MetroNation should discuss positioning. Then, right from the outset, people will know that that/those is/are "our" section(s). Since ESC has been there since the beginning, it may different than for us, when we needed to identify our section in the stadium before the beginning of this season.

MetroNation is actually in a similar spot to where ESC was originally supposed to be (Section 135). If you remember the early days, there were a lot of complaints from families in 135 behind the ESC, who intended to stand the entire game. The solution was to open up 101 which was not for sale - remember when they used to drape tarps over sections? 101 was successful and became a tradition. To move them to midfield now would disrupt the most expensive seats sold. Could be done, but at what risk?

In DC, the Screaming eagles were midfield from Day 1.

Actually SE moved there in season 2 to be next to Barra Brava (louder with 2 groups)

IMO there should be some kind of coordination that can take place across all sections. For instance maybe the ESC and Metronation could come up with some chants (G rated to maximize participation and minimize offensed fans) and have staff at the stadium hand out thewords so everyone will know them. to be honest I sit in sec 113 and can't make out what MN are saying forget about sec 101. Also, and I know this sounds extremely corny, but maybe have people at halftime with the Metrogirls try to get everyone to do them together, that way you can get almost the whole stadium on the same page immediatly. Don't beat me up to bad on this it is only a suggestion, but it maybe the fastest way to get the whole crowd involved.

Lots of the chants arent even bad. Kids hear worse on a school bus or on tv.

the problem of course is the stadium...put the ESC, with renewed enthusiasm due to on/off field sucess, behind a goal in a 25K stadium and it would be great...

i think having the ESC in the middle of the stadium, if they were allowed to move, would do wonders for the atmosphere. I know that every game there are one or two guys who go up and down the aisles throughout the stadium with a drum chanting Metro stuff and the crowd follows along, but when they leave the section it is all quiet again. Having the ESC there would keep the atmosphere there for much of the game.

G rated chants suck. ;)

True enough. But since about half of our attendance is under 16 years old I think it would be wise not to give parents any reason to leave and not return to more games.
