Match will be played on the 31st of May at the Stade Symphorien, Metz.

And here is the Les Bleus selection:

Goalkeepers:

Grégory Coupet - (Olympique Lyonnais)
Mickaël Landreau - (FC Nantes)

Defenders:

Eric Abidal - (Olympique Lyonnais)
Jean-Alain Boumsong (Newcastle United)
William Gallas - (Chelsea)
Gaël Givet - (Monaco)
Anthony Reveillere - (Olympique Lyonnais)
Sébastien Squillaci - (Monaco)

Midfielders:

Vikash Dhorasoo - (AC Milan)
Alou Diarra - (RC Lens)
Rio Antonio Mavuba - (Bordeaux)
Benoît Pedretti - (Marseille)
Jérôme Rothen - (Paris St-Germain)

Attackers:

Djibril Cissé - (Liverpool)
Ludovic Guily - (Barcelona)
Sidney Govou - (Olympique Lyonnais)
Florent Malouda - (Olympique Lyonnais)
Sylvain Wiltord - (Olympique Lyonnais)

Henry is injured, Vieria is getting married next week but Cissé will be available despite playing playing in the Champions League final. Strange.

Not a good call up for me. About time, the espoirs are given a chance. Some of those players have been tried and failed. Wiltord is a backward step for me. Wouldn’t it be more beneficial for the younger talent to come in? At least they can say that they tried.

I hear what you are saying but its time to get serious about qualifying for the WC. The upcoming games, especially the Ireland one, are crucial and its too late to be experimenting with inexperienced players. Wiltord has been solid for Les Bleus and will be useful as a sub when Henry gets well again.

My biggest worry is that Pires is not going to get called up in those games. Also where is Tezeguet for this one? Its nice to see Cissé back in the side and Djorassoo as well. There's alot of talent here despite the absence of Vieira and Henry. Lets see what they do.

Just like when Erikksson decided to take a gamble and play Rooney, in the crucial game against the Turks in Sunderland a while back?

Domenech is playing the easy card and not being desicive enough for me.

I also like the fact that Reveillere is playing. For my money he's one of the more exciting defenders around. I watched a Lyon game recently and just about every touch he had he did something remarkable with. The Bleus can really use someone like him who can start the attack from the back.

i hoped that domenech would call up Sebastien Frey for the gk position. It shouldn't be too problematic that his season ends 3 days before the friendly.

Does anyone know how he's doing at Parma and his current form, especially with the team in danger of relegation?

i think it's a good squad.

starting at the back, it's the best 6 france has. i can only hope we see gallas and boumsong in the middle and abidal and rvr on the wings. but the reason he gives for giving rvr the call instead of sagnol doesn't look good for what will follow.

the midfield is weak, dhorasoo is a favorite of mine, but when his is the one name that seems to shine, when viera getting married leaves the middle looking like a gust of wind could knock it down, it shows the group is really weak. unless pedretti and rothen get back to form, it will be auf wiedersehen!

up front it's the opposite. when you can be missing trez and terence and still have all that punch on the squad... wiltord a step back? well, he's on a return to the future kick too, hotter than a pistol lately.

as for frey, keeper is not a hot potato position. look at how barthez has got all the caps when coupet has clearly been the best keeper in L1 for 3 years. landreau on the bench is the only logical choice.

.

Which highlights the stupidity of excluding Pires at this stage of the game. Ok, you've tried out a few other players, Domenech, but stop f$cking around already. This midfield is desperately needing some attacking depth. We're not scoring goals because we have poor strikers...its because we dont have the creative buildup and playmaking capabilities of a veteran like Pires in the squad.

The media in France has been hounding him over this for months and he still wont give in. This is getting really frustrating!
