Does anyone know if the Premiership is looking to expand its 5 person bench policy? Seeing as how almost every other league, plus national team games allow 7 on a bench I think it would be better if the Prem used 7. Basically, you're committed to certain strategies with only 4 field players to chose from(as I think its only Sheffield United who don't use a reserve keeper on the bench) before the game even starts. I think 6 would allow managers to tinker a bit more and use their substitutions more. Plus it may allow some younger players to make the bench and possibly get playing time.

It's a very good idea as it would keep players happier, as I'm sure making the bench is a lot better than watching from the stand in a suit.

No. The view is worse so low.
I'm sure many prefer going to a nice tropical getaway instead of sitting in the cold stands for the weekend. A players union would probably vote to have 0 subs if they could. More vacation time.

just remember back in the day when it was only one sub. i do agree being on the bench will keep players happy. another alternate is to just keep the 5 sub rule but make it so keepers arn't included as a sub.

Um, wouldn't that be a 6 sub rule?
If you could fix the loopholes, I'd like a rule that said you get 5 subs, plus one U-21 sub, plus 1 U-19 sub. So you could have these kids on the bench, and if the match was 3-0, put them in at minute 80 to get some experience. And they'd still be there for emergencies, if, for example, 2 defenders got injured in the same match. (I'm presuming a manager would have one of these "kiddie subs" be a defender if he had only 1 defender among the other 5.)

I know that, I was using them as an example of the English teams in general, as I believe the 5 subs is throughout the Leagues as well as the Premiership.

Surely they will provide better seats! I mean they're hard working members of the club. Pay them thousands each weekend to do nothing besides watch the matches!
