View Full Version : How do you get your off-season fix?

With the desolation of the offseason upon us, what do you do to satisify the live football urge? Do you just watch FSW or go to EPL games at the Lounge or Summers? Do you travel to games? Do you do college games?
i will go to Holland for a NAC game on Nov. 9 and try to catch one other game also. i am also planning a trip in Jan or Feb to the UK to see the americans--keller, friedel and maybe reyna (though i am loath to pay to see the crap sunderland calls a side).
or maybe some of you actually enjoy a break from games?

Arsenal works for me. It's not the same as life football, but it has to do.

Do crack addicts enjoy running out of crack?:D I just thank the Almighty for creating Fox Sports World so I can get my fix. I follow the Argentine and Brazilian Clausuras. And I've started following the English Premier league. Any excuse to get together with my buds and watch futbol. I sure am going to miss Summers. I hope the owner can come up with something so we can all get together and share in our addiction.

I just drink, and remain drunk until the next season starts. At which point I drink some more. Can't be sober for games. :)

Well now that I've got my Saturday nights soccer free I've actually started to date again.
And there's always Fox Sports World.

I have no FSW so I will go to WC tapes and MLS games I taped, but never watched.

FSW helps a lot.
I don't really "follow" other leagues. I watch the games, and enjoy them on that level, but I couldn't tell you who was in what place in the Premiership, with the obvious exceptions (I hear that Arsenal team is pretty good).
So I watch for fun, and pull for my Avalanche and Capitals.

Arsenal on FSW and sitting in section 516 of Ravens Stadium. Besides, watching the Ravens is very much like sitting through a 1-0 soccer game.

Got any extra tickets for a Steelers fan for next Sunday?

Ack! No, but even if I did . . . . After all, you wouldn't cough up your United tickets to a Scum fan now would you?
I've seen enough Pittsburgh fans descend upon the MCI Center and Ravens Stadium like the proverbial plague of Biblical locusts to last me a lifetime.

Publius, I will personally hunt you down if you give any squealers fan (even one I like as much as Mike) a ticket to the game in Baltimore!
 ;)

Rangers games on FSW or whoever is carrying the game that week, and at least one trip to go see Ross County every winter.

That hurts.
One of the best things about the Ravens existence is it gives me twice as many Cleveland Browns teams to hate with all my heart.

Bummer. I guess I'll have to try to scalp a couple of 'em.

Sadly, it shouldn't be too hard to do.

A break from football? You're talking nonsense, man. :)
I've just completed my first year as a fan (since USA/HON, 9/1/01), and I want to see as much good football as I possibly can.
I'm closely following the EPL, Serie A, La Liga, and the Champions League. And Bundesliga, SPL and Eredivisie to a lesser degree.
Gotta make up for lost time....
(Still kicking self for not being a fan when the frickin' World Cup was 20 minutes from my house at RFK :( )

Just keep my sanity with Hockey (both OSU and the C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS!!!) and 2003 Uefa Champions League WINNER Arsenal.

Lately, my winter involves a couple/few trips to England (come on, you R's!), listening to the QPR commentary online on many Saturday mornings, and a going to a few games of the Stars-and-Stripes (Gold Cup last winter, etc.), plus occasional trips to Lucky Bar, Cap Lounge, and Summers.
That, and catching a few "other sport" games (Univeristy of New Orleans basketball and New Orleans Saints football, primarily, but also a few Caps games).
