Next signing for FCK:

Mathieu Béda from Standard Liége (Belgium) joins the red devils.
The 24 years old French should strengthen the FCK central defense.

Slovakian player named Balázs Borbély (26, defensive midfield)

I saw him play against Inter this year...he actually legitimately marked Adriano very well, I was incredibly impressed by this lad. If he can do Adriano, he'll have no problems in die Bundesliga.

Looks like you guys are actually building a defense at the Fritz-Walter. Congrats, and about time! :D

Transfer fees for the new players:

Beda 500k Euros
Borbély and Hřiland 50k Euros for the season with an option for a long term contract if Kaiserslautern is not relegated (they are not going to be relegated). The transfer fee is rumored to then be 570k Euros.

Halil Altintop, currently second best goalgetter in the BL (13 goals),
leaves Kaiserslautern in summer and joins Schalke 04,
where his twin Hamit Altintop already plays, as a free transfer.

"Many clubs not only from the BL, but also from other big leagues
were interested in me, but it was no question for me, that i join Schalke",
Halil said, who was born in Gelsenkirchen (Schalke is a district of Gelsenkirchen).
"I am happy to return to my family and play football at home."

I would have liked him to leave at the winter break so Kaiserslautern got some money for him. Just not in the cards.

FCK aren't looking to sell him. They can still make Schalke an offer to take him now, but they won't. They need Altintop for the survival fight more than they need any transfer fee they might get for him.

I think Schalke could actually use Altintop for the rest of this season and in the CL, but they've spent so much on players in the last two years, they probably don't want to pay FCK what it would be worth to sell Altintop now.

Schalke is out of the CL, so they certainly couldn't use Altintop in that competition this season. Personally, I think this guy is way overrated. Very streaky, and about his only contribution on the field seems to be the goals he scores. I don't think he's the kind of player that makes other teammates better. He is the kind of guy who'll play like crap for a month, and then score a hat trick, which beefs up his numbers and makes everyone forget about how crappy he had been.

Good catch on my mistake! Thank you! I meant to type the UEFA Cup!! :)

And I completely agree with you about Altintop. I've been saying the same thing for months!!

He's a bottom-feeder as far as I'm concerned, which means he's certainly joining the right club!!! ;)

Let's see how he does there with only Lincoln to feed him.

That is whenever he gets off the bench. He certainly isn't going to play ahead of Kuranyi and Larsen.

I think that's about right; he's an OK player, nothing more, on a bad team, and will be lost at a club like Schalke. 'Lautern seems like a sinking ship, so I can't blame him for wanting out, but he would have been much better of going to middle of the table clubs like Gladbach or Hannover (not that I'd want him).

I would have taken him at Dortmund before we signed Matthew Amoah. Not because Altintop is a great player or great striker by any means. But because he's better than anyone we have now besides Smolarek.

I think Altintop would be leaving Kaiserslautern even if they weren't having the horrible season they are having. His brother went straight from the Regionalliga to the "big time" with Schalke. Halil used FCK as a stepping-stone. I think the only way Halil would have stayed with FCK is if they were title contenders.

I think his mind was already made up before this season even started that after it, he was going to join Schalke, Dortmund, Leverkusen or Bochum.

He may play for Turkey, but he and his brother were born and raised in the Ruhrgebiet.

I think he wanted to go home. He simply wanted to go home.......

I read that the Altintops lived in Gelsenkirchen, so you are right, Schalke is home (IIRC, did they play for Wattenscheid, which is in that area?) It's funny, because under normal circumstances, Kaiserslautern would be more than a stepping stone. But boy, that club has just been run into the ground. What terrible management. A similar situation at your club, but you had further to fall and put the brakes on before you hit bottom. Personally, I think Schalke is headed in the same direction.

The previous management team before Jaeggi ran FCK into the ground. I think Rene Jaeggi and his crew did a marvelous job keeping the team in the top flight as long as they did. What happened at 1. FC Kaiserslautern is a crying shame. I still have friends there and attended many matches there. That club is the pride of that region. And trust me, that region doesn't have much else to be proud of.

My club's downfall, in my eyes, was caused by a power-mad president who didn't know the first thing about football and a moronic trainer (Sammer) who didn't teach his players to become better or gave them the best chance to win tactially. Rather, he ran his team out there and ordered them to beat their opponents into submission. That ruined the team, by totally frustrating them, which in turn exposed the financial misdealings behind the scenes. So, in a way, for us, the bottom falling out of the team and the club was a blessing in disguise. :)

For even if we had kept winning, the power-mad president would have continued with his boneheaded trainer and idiotic spending. Eventually the problems would have come out and it might have really been too late by then.

Schalke are being a lot smarter in their actions than Dortmund were, but I think they are making one huge mistake we made too.

The mistake is in letting too many talented young players get away.

Besides allowing Sammer to alienate the team by never holding him accountable for anything, since Sammer didn't know the first thing about nurturing young talent, (I feel this is why Tomas Rosicky has never reached his potential in Dortmund) if those young players didn't get better "on their own", Sammer just got rid of them while the club bought more expensive "name players" who didn't help worth a damn.

I think Schalke are letting their young talent slip away as they buy older/other players to try to stay on top. I think they would have been better off just keeping Hanke or Delura around instead of bringing in Altintop and selling Hanke (Who I believe was demanding an opportunity to play, which I feel he'd earned) and loaning Delura to Hannover. I think Schalke are going to lose Delura even though they may not wish to because I think Delura will find himself happier in Hannover than he ever would be in that s#ithole Schalke and the Altintops call home. Before you ask, yes, I've been there quite a few times.

I feel Delura might be the brightest star Schalke could lose because of their "new" transfer policies.

They think Altintop will continue what he's done in the first half of the season. I believe Altintop is a "one-hit wonder" and his acquisition will hurt Schalke in the long run.

Especially if they lose Michael Delura because of it.........

I still say the problem is not scoring, but keeping them out of our own goal. Even though Altintop scored almost all the goals, a number of other players could step into that role. If Kaiserslautern had had a better back line, which they now do, they would have been a midtable team.

Let's see how they do in the second half.

Zak. Just where did either one of us say FCK's big problem is scoring?? Come on man. You've seen me write on the FCK list. You know I know better than that.

We all know the major problem is defense, but just think of them with better defenders, but without Altintop for the second half of this season?

Not a pretty picture, is it? It's not that Altintop is some great player, but for offense, he's pretty much all FCK has.

Offense is a problem, but it's not the BIG problem. We agree that is defense.

But again, imagine that offense this season without Altintop.......

I don't think so. Who would replace those goals? Jancker? Sanogo?

Please man. I don't think so.

Without Altintop's poaching this season to offset that crappy defense, they would be by far and away in last place.

If they survive this season, which even with the new acquisitions, I think it will be VERY DIFFICULT for them to do, they will have to replace those goals next season. I don't think the kid (Fromlowitz) is ready..........

Sanogo, Halfar (that is who you meant, Fromlowitz is a keeper), Zandi, Englehardt, Seitz, etc... The problem was Altintop would just sit near the opposing goal waiting to be fed the ball. Noone else had a chance. Sanogo is amazing. He can score, feed people, and realing breaks well off of the ball. Real future in that kid, once he figures out the German system.

Daniel Halfar! Just got his pro contract! Thanks! I shouldn't have tried to post his name since I didn't know. :o Big time guess!

Dude. I like Sanogo. I think he's a darned good player and I think we can use him in Dortmund as we still need a true CENTRAL striker. I even want BVB to go after him if FCK are relegated, but there's no way in hell Sanogo is "amazing"!

If you truly think he is, I think you have very low standards for use of the word "amazing".

To me, Zidane five years ago was "amazing". Ronaldinho is "amazing". Boubcar Sanogo is a darned good player, but I think he's far from "amazing" and will never fit that description.

As far as Zandi and Seitz being able to provide any scoring, dude, if Zandi and Seitz could be consistent Bundesliga scorers, Wolf wouldn't be showing them the door! Wolf wouldn't get rid of players he feels can help the team. Those players are going to be gone because they've basically been stealing money this season.
