Man, they left it late, but the real #1FCK showed up. Crazy, 0 goal difference for the season. So now I have a couple of pints and wipe the brow, cause that was very close.

Hell yeah! The rest of my summer just got off to a very bright start! But that was too close. Onwards and upwards next season I hope.

They're sinking deeper and deeper with every game.
They're 5 points from safety now, that number could increase on Sunday, they've got 7 games left, I think in order to survive relegation they'll need about 5 wins or so from the remaining matches.
Matches left:
Aue (away) - very interesting match, both teams really need wins so it should be a good game, Aue have gotten better lately and it'll be hard to beat them.
Augsburg(home) - A manageable 3 points here, though really a game they'll HAVE to win.
Aachen(home) - again, the 3 points are possible, but they'll have to have improved heavily between now and ten.
Mainz(away) - Getting any points from this match will be VERY tough.
St. Pauli(home) - Again, they'll be the favourites going into this game, and they'll need all 3 points.
Jena(away) - 3 points again possible if they play to their best. Jena will probably be relegated by this point, but they have improved lately and won't be pushovers.
Koeln(home) - Potentially enormous game, FCK could be fighting relegation and Koeln fighting for promotion both up to the last day. Winning here would be hard.
Overall, i'd say FCK will have good chances against Aue, Augsburg, Aachen, St. Pauli and Jena, and then there's always the possibility they surprise against Mainz or Koeln. I'd say they need 5 wins from these matches to avoid being relegated, that'll be tough but it's certainly possible, so FCK shouldn't give up yet!
Well, in the end they needed one point less than I predicted they would :D

Great news for K'town! Josh Simpson is the hero, scoring that huge first goal. Comes out of the game 80' in, with a broken left foot. He will be gutted as he was to play against Brasil with Canada and also be part of our World Cup qualifying this summer.

I think Stefan Kuntz will bring competence and confidence back to FCK management and that will spread throughout the club.

I hope you are right. As it is today he is already twice a hero in my eyes. I'll tell you it has been hell this season. When it all began I was dreaming of promotion and when it ended we were fighting to stay alive with a goal difference that was better than a lot of teams ahead of us in the table. I really thought it might be the end for the Rote Teufel and thought we might end up like S.S.C. Napoli. I hope we'll be in the fight for promotion next season but after this I'm taking nothing for granted. I am relieved and overjoyed today but I can't party too hard as I've got important work to do in the morning. -Cheers!

Way to go, Red Devils!!!
I was so worried we'd be relegated, but the Fussball Gotts have allowed us to live another season. And with the local hero, we are going to be so much better!!
Kuuuuuuuuuntz!!!!

I was there. But I don`t have pics.
The atmosphere was fantastic. It was like lautern won the champions league.
After the match the police had to open the gates to the pitch because the crowds were simply out of control. But they made a big mistake. They opened the gate in front of the cologne block as well. So the hooligans/idiots of both sides found ther counterparts on the pitch...:(

I've just seen a clip. Terrible scenes  ... instead of having a common party.
I heard that members of the "famous" Wilde Horde from Köln started attacking celebrating Lautern fans on the pitch (kids & women among them) ...

Congratulations Kaiserslautern!!! I was lucky enough to be in the stadium and witness your happy end, the whole place went ballistic when Simpson scored. :)
I'm sorry that some morons from our side ruined the party afterwards. Can't tell you how ashamed I was when I saw them cleaving the crowd on the pitch and storming to the Westkurve. Before that, fans of both clubs were celebrating peacefully together. It's a pity.

I don't know if these morons belonged to the WH, but if so this group should be banned. They are a disgrace for our club and must not be allowed to see a stadium from the inside again.

I prefer not to think too much about such things. The Köln fans that I know are all wonderful people and knowledgeable about the game. I'm not going to let a small minority distort my perception and ruin a day of celebration.
