Things stay same in CFU rankings
Thursday, May 19th 2005

There is no positional change in the ranking of Caribbean Football Union (CFU) teams for May as the 25 CFU teams averaged only marginal movement on FIFA's world list released on Wednesday.

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz, the reigning Caribbean Cup champions, edged one place up FIFA's list to be 41st, to stay a clear CFU number one over Trinidad and Tobago at 62nd in the world, and Cuba (64th).

In a month of few internationals, the CFU's fourth-ranked Haiti were actually the world's biggest movers in the past month, climbing five places up to 87th.

The remainder of the top-10 has St. Kitts and Nevis, 120th in the world, in sixth position, followed by Barbados (122nd) seventh, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (133rd) eighth, Grenada (148th) ninth, and Suriname (151st) 10th.

Reigning CONCACAF Gold Cup champions Mexico moved one place up the world rankings to seventh in the world to retain the top position in CONCACAF, ahead of the USA, 10th in the world, Costa Rica (21st), Jamaica, Honduras (50th) and Guatemala (60th), with Trinidad and Tobago seventh in the confederation.

The Brazilians remain solid at number one in the world, with the Czech Republic in second, Argentina third, and France fourth. The Netherlands are fifth, followed by England.

I'm really surprised by this, of these four teams I think St. Kitts is the worst. My rankings of Caribbean teams would be:

Jamaica
T&T
Cuba(I think they may be better than T&T right now, it will be interesting to see them in the Gold cup)
St Vincent
Grenada
Barbados
St Kitts
