Preview of The Woods, the song "Entertain."

Kinda silly lyrics, but the vocal is seething. Good stuff here.
"You come around, sounding 1972
You did nothin' new, 1972.
Where's the "f__k you"? Where's the black-and-blue?
Where's the black-and-blue?
WHERE'S THE BLACK-AND-BLUE?!?"

I try my hardest to not like them, but it's impossible.
I also find that Carrie chick f'ing HOT. What's not to like about a super cool indie rock chick playing a ferociosu Gibson SG??

You've heard the whole thing?!?!
My bro was supposed to send me an advanced copy, but he hasn't sent it yet.

They just keep putting out amazing record after amazing record. Speaking of sexiness, years ago, there was a thread about the sexiest female voice, and a few people were surprised that I nominated Corin Tucker.

Physically, I'll take Corin - but all three of them are hot. Janet might be the best drummer on the planet.

The only drummer I know who comes close is Scott Plouf.

What's the sound like? "One Beat" seemed to be pushing the production and arrangements a bit, with horns and whatnot.
Same thing? More? Back to Basics?
Dig me out, indeed. Here's to Sleater-Kinney.
Edit:
just like to add, I like those lyrics. Short, impressionistic, bursts of ideas.
"Sounding 1972" and "Where's the Black and Blue" are pretty good lines.

I do like their records,(Dig Me Out is tremendous; All Hands on the Bad One also a fav) but I wasn't impressed with them as a live band.
I saw them about three years ago at a Central Park Summerstage show...maybe after about a third of the show, I left. Wasn't digging them at all.
There's still no bass in the band right? Maybe that's my hang-up with them live.

She's ridiculously attractive. She looks fantastic on the cover of Magnet this month.

Um. Sara Lund from Unwound is better than both. Granted, Unwound is no more, but I think even Janet knows that Sara is the champ.

Just got the cd yesterday. Good stuff, although it's not as immediately accessable as their other records.

Alright. Okay. ********!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just saw them on Friday at the Live 105 BFD Fest (free tix through work)...and they're absolutely unbelievable and much much much better than the other times I've seen them.
And this album rules, btw.

I really want to buy this CD, but I'm going to bankrupt myself after all of the music purchases I've already made this month.
Next month, however . . . .

I love the production and how everything bleeds together and is totally in the red.

I'm still rocking this on a daily basis...
BTW, the vinyl is on this is a very nice gatefold with side 1/2 on green vinyl and the second record brown (one sided though, 'side four' is a silk screen of a piece of wood).
