Same team as last week I'm picking, the threads a bit early as I'll still probably be either snoozing or showering when the game starts, I found out today from google where the name West Ham comes from, (I know I should get out more) way back in 1319 there was this Family called the Montfichets who used to own the Hamlet of Ham, (flash gits) which previously was owned by the Abbey of Westminister, and due to a Family fued between the two brothers, the Father in his will decided to divide the Hamlet into East & West, not many people realise this you know!
C'MON YOU IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian, such pearls of wisdom!!
As to the game tonight, I hope Pardew goes for it. I'd like to see us play 4.3.3 with Harewood, Zamora up front with Rebrov just behind. I don't think Ipswich would be expecting this either but then again nor do I.
All I hope is that when I get up tomorrow morning the Hammers are going to Cardiff.
Up the Hammers!!!!

I am related to them on my mothers uncles wifes sisters great great granmothers side. My family then laid the foundations to the then new Westminster abbey. Five generations later they built the Holly Tree pub in Dames road Forest Gate. I went in there for a pint when i was in London last and got one on the house. Brian if i move next door to the pub will i get free beer for life?

Are you mad? Ive already laid claim to the entire borough of Newham being directly related to the Montfichets, as is the custom, you will be entitled to one free pint per year, or one barrell if you dispose of that dastardly fellow T Brown, now be off with you my good man!

I thought that was common knowledge. The hamlets were in fact already two seperate hamlets, lying to the east and west of the old Norman church at Stratford. They never had a name before he called them the east and west hamlets. Stratford, of course comes from straight ford le(at) Bow. This was the easiest cattle and cart crossing on the river lea.
Chelsea means chalk island.....Did you know that Brian? Leyton....Sheltered farm. I could go on and on, but it would only encourage Stomper to start, and we don't want that.

Who takes the penalties when the game ends in a draw?
(On the understanding that W.H. never do things the easy way)

They will call out random members of the crowd. OK so that's just my personal dream. I'd get picked of course, and roof it from 12.
Anyhoo, does anyone have an audio or video link to catch this game? It starts in 45 minutes, and I'd LOVE to hear it! Hammers!

I FEEL SICK!!!! :(
This is it guys, the big one - again. Am off to watch the game on tv courtesy of our Man City-supporting neighbour (gawd bless 'im), real sense of deja vu as I did the same in the POSF 2nd leg last year and we all know what happened then :)
Hope that by the time I return, we are heading to Cardiff...
COME ON YOU IRONS!!!!!!!

West Ham United Football Club was founded as a professional team after the merger of three local amateur teams; St Luke's, The Old Castle Swifts (great name!) and the Thames Ironworks team. But football in Newham went back even further. A football match is recorded as having taken place in the area in 1582 when during the course of the match a man was murdered. It is not recorded whether he was wearing claret and blue.
