Any word/rumour/hint over your side of the pond as to who will get these games on your hallowed turf? ;)

I think Kevin Stott will do the Colombia game, given it's in the US, but as for the US game, I expect it'll be Prendergaast, Batres, or maybe a Canadian?

Actually I wouldn't expect Stott to have the England/Columbia game since it's midweek, and as he's a teacher, it'd be very difficult for him, and I believe there are plenty of others who could be available. Now, him having the one in Chicago? That's VERY possible.

I know it's a "friendly" (still laugh every time I see that term used in any sort of competitive event), but I would seriously doubt a US crew would work an international match involving a US team. Wouldn't someone like Vergara (sp?) from Canada be more logical?

I'm guessing a US crew works England-Colombia. It'll be interesting to see who gets that assignment. A less experienced FIFA like Terry Vaughn might get that match.

Hmmmm...you are like the amazing karnac. US referees no longer do US Nat games.

I would not be suprised to see Mauricio Navarro with a crew from Canada. He has done several US matches in the last two years and did a good job.

I'd normally expect Navarro with Canadian ARs and either Kennedy/Vaughn/Salazar as the 4th for the US/England match in Chicago. However, with the new candidate selection system in place, FIFA/CONCACAF may have an interest in putting the younger Mexican crew on the match.

For the Colombia/England match, you might see Prus get a shot at it, as he is the most local FIFA. Otherwise, it's probably a question of who's available and not working the previous weekend among Hall, Stott and Valenzuela.

Given that the Columbia match is in Jersey on a weeknight, I'm thinking some combination of Barkey, Lowry, Prus, and/or Clemment will be on the match in some capacity. As far as another referee, take your pick.

Vaughn has the England-Colombia match in the center with Prus as the 4th and Lowry/Barkey as AR's.

Cheers. Any idea of who has the US game?

He doesn't. :p

Brian Hall is the referee, and according to Motty, it sounds like it's the same ARs. No idea about the FO.

Brian Hall's wearing an interesting kit for a FIFA 'A' Int'l game...

Brian Hall's wearing an interesting kit for a FIFA 'A' Int'l game...I'm not watching, but assume he's wearing the OSI official USSF uniform--probably in red or blue, right?

Remember, though Adidas pretty much sponsors anything to do with FIFA, they don't have any sort of arrangement for friendlies, so there's no requirement that referees don their Adidas kits for those matches. It is common, obviously, for referees from netural countries to use Adidas kits (which all FIFA refs are given) for most friendlies. But with this friendly being on neutral soil, it's not really all that strange for them to wear our federation's uniform.

This is interesting as there must have been a change. Even yesterday, Hall was listed on mlsnet as the referee for the Metrostars game. I saw that the ussocer site had it different this morning. Don't know why the change was made, but they apparently switched who was doing which center...wonder why?

Anyway, I missed the match...how was it englishref? Did Brian do well?

I cannot believe I had to miss this game! My credential application was denied, for one, but for two - I had to work until 6pm. I tried to follow it online, but wasn't very successful. Yes, I'd love to hear how Brian and crew did as well.

It was a typically crap, boring England friendly, although the scoreline would suggest otherwise.

Brian did his best in a slow game played on a poor pitch. He used lots of advantages, and seemed to have a good raport with the players. It's hard to tell from the replays, but if Crouch took the quick free kick that leadt to the 2nd England goal, then the ball was never stationary at any point. But as I say, I wasn't paying attention first time round, and the replays don't show what happened very well, so someone may have tapped it to him. Other than that, he had little to do really.

The same can't be said for the ARs, who had a nightmare tbh. The one of the far side (if Motty is anything to go by, and assuming Hall doesn't swap them over at HT, it was Lowry) turned offsides into a lottery, some good decisions, several bad ones, whilst the one on the near side (Motty said it was Barkley) got the 1st goal wrong, which lead to the furious protests from the Colombian team. Even Ian Wright agreed it was offside, which is saying something. He then got one or two more wrong in the second half.

So Brian Hall had a very solid game, but if this wasn't a one-off from the ARs, i'd hope the US have better ARs to send with Stott to Germany.

Brian Hall (plus others!) were wearing the black USSF kit. Overall I thought he did a very good job. Kept up with play, and was right on top of all the incidents, and as ever, his movement was excellent. A solid performance throughout.
Does anyone know who did the MetroStars game afterwards?
I was also slightly surprised that they didn't appoint a Canadian referee for the USA v. England game, bearing in mind the location of the fixture, plus the same language.

Terry Vaughn, one of our FIFAs did the Metro's match.
