whats the player that has failed the most to live up to their potential in the last 10 years?
either because of discipline problems, mentality problems, or simply not achieving the heights expected of them
to me in the last 10 years there has been 6 players
Carlos "kukin" Flores
amazing talent, chorri's only competitor for the number 10, unlike chorri his lifestyle screwed his carrear, had the skills to play in a tougher league
Mario "machito" Gomez
this kid had it all, strenth, garra, and futbol..played in the under 23 2000 preolimpic team, he was younger than most of his team mates by at least 4 or 5 years, like kukin his lifestyle stalled his future, add to that his mentality(refusing to go overseas twice)
Andres "condor" Mendoza
has speed, strenth and a lethal left foot, has caused havoc to many of the worlds top teams
his biggest problem? his mentality, thats what speparates him from pizarro
Miguel "conejo" Rebosio
i expected more of him, hes surely to good for a bad second division team, look at the way he plays for la blanquiroja, for whatever reason cant seem to carry his national team form into his euro carrear, which in turn stalled his growth, hes good but i expected him to be better
Marko "tigre" Ciurlizza
at the age of 27 he shouldnt be in peru, went to brazil and for whaterver reason he returned to peru, even do he wasnt doing to badly, should have benched jayo by now..but he hasnt achieved the heights expected of him
Henry "pato" Quinteros
again at 28 he should have left our shores, problem his mentality, he never could repeat his club performances with the national team..he has all the skills required..but hes another player that has reached his peak

Didnt Kukin play for Panathinaikos? I reckon he did.

there is so much wasted talent in peru which is sad
you could also add johan sotil to the list
the problem with ciurlizza is that he is very injury prone and therefore he never had the continuity.
mendoza has enormous potential more so than pizarro i still haven't lost faith in him completely

to me it comes down to kukin or mendoza
kukin had everything, but he never really tested himself outside of peru(apart from failed stints in brazil and greece) so well never know
mendoza like i said has everything, and his goals against top teams like river, milan, borussia dortmund, chile paraguay etc
showed that he could peform, unfortunatly for him and all the supporters of his clubs and national team, he can also have truly awfull games
if he could get his mentality sorted he would be as good as or better than pizza, at 27 i dont think thats going to happen(he could surprise me..but i doubt it)
so id vote for him, then kukin

Didnt Kukin play for Panathinaikos? I reckon he did.
percy olivares played for pana
flores played for a smaller greek team and atletico paranense(with abel lobaton) in brazil

yeah marko's injuries is another factor why hes not as good as many expected
johan is another player that failed to match the expcetations(hes still young)
other players
Jorge Huaman
Santiago Salazar
you can even argue Jorge Soto failed to reach his true potential(mostly because solano was playing in his best position for peru)

I wouldnt put Mendoza in that list. cause unlike all the players in your list he's playing overseas. if you're going to put mendoza there then you might as well put Pizarro cause he hasn't played as good for the NT as he does for bayern, I dont think I've seen him score yet for the national team. One players that I do see going into the wasted talent department is Junior Ross, wasn't he like one of the biggest surprises of last year's apertura? he needs to be in a better team.

I voted for Kukin.
I still find it hard to believe that so many former players and Peruvian futbol experts never hesitate to call him the most talented #10 since Uribe, completely sidestepping Palacios. A player like that should have been shining in the best European leagues.
Cholito Sotil has taken the biggest nosedive of any. He went from future great to utter crap in less than a year. His highlight reel is better than most NT forwards' but now he can't make a 1st division team.

I reckon Vasallo couldve done more to move into Serie A while in italy, same goes for Gianfranco Labarthe, he couldve done more in Derby County

My vote goes to Quinteros since he was the only one in that list that didn't go overseas. He is an ok player, he has maybe 3 to 5 good games each season which is pathetic for a guy of his talent.
Close second is Machito, truly a waste of talent. He came in strong in the Piazza era but like the rest of that generation nobody is left playing in first division (cordero is in huaral :o( ). I think Polvorita Carrion and Matellini are the only ones still left in the second division.

I wouldnt put Miguel Rebosio on that list. Hes the last Peruvian (and probably will be for a long time) to win a cup in Spain (Copa del Rey) he was even the captain for gods sake. He didnt play the final because he was injured. And also consider the fact that he is a defender, not many Peruvian defenders go overseas. But I do reckon that the move to Almeria was retarded, he deserved way better. He also has a Copa Libertadores Final so I wouldnt call his career unsuccesful. You know who I would put on that list instead of Rebosio? Santiago Acasiete. They both need to leave that team as soon as possible!

Ciurlissa could have been better if he stayed in la "U" :( , and if he was'nt such a malogrado.
Every player from La "U" seem to rot when they go to alianza.

i put rebosio there, because he could be better, acasiete is doing better than anyone ever expected of him
btw as far as i know miguel rebosio has never been the captain of zaragoza
and if he had peformed so well zaragoza wouldnt have let him go

the difference betewn pizarro and mendoza is that one plays for bayern the other for metalurg
mendoza is on the poll because on talent alone hes as good or even better than claudio
