View Full Version : New Manager...?

We haven't had a serious 'new manager' thread in a while so I thought I'd start one.

My thoughts right now are on Iain Dowie and Mad Dog (yes...still).

MD has Brentford in the playoffs and losing the first leg 1-0. Palace are now relegated which kind of puts Dowie in the running as well.

I reckon if we don't get promoted (and I don't honestly think we will) we and Brentford don't get promoted either we could go for either ID or MD with a view to having a West Ham boy in the seat once again.

If we do go up then Dowie may be the more likely to be lured with him having a seasons worth of PL experience.

If Brentford do go up will MD want to leave them for another team in the same league? Also if Hartlepool go up instead I get to see them play West Ham cos it's just down the road from me.

Whatever happens it looks like Dowie is playing the noble soldier role anyway:

If we don't go up then would like to know who the new owners would be. Once that's done then see what talent can be brought in for Pards to work with and if he can't, then find someone else. New owner first, manager second.,

Aslo Teddy shouldn't be left out. He talks well, plays well and has an inner fire. I think he would make a great manager.

I think everyone would agree with that. A new board and chairman is certainly the thing I would expect to see happen first if we don't go up.

It's all still a but hazey on who is actually willing to buy the club, other than Tabor and also whether he is on his own or mixed in with one of the consortia.

A very good suggestion. A proven winner who knows what it takes to be succesfull.

Manage Brenford or West Ham, thats a tough choice. I think MD would consider that for about two seconds. Here's wishing, anyway.

'Arry's looking for a job now that Southampton's got the chop! ;)

Curbs was the first name to spring to mind, bit too soon for Mad Dog but would love to see him in charge of us one day.

So, preferred order:

Curbishley
Dowie
Mad Dog

and maybe even 'Arry again (assuming Brown is history of course)

Don't think Curbs will come if we don't have a change of board. I can see either Harry if he's part of any takeover. Or Dowie if Harry is not involved in the takeover. They would all do me, although i still feel all things considering Pardew has done well to get us this far.

We need a manager with cashe, that's a proven winner at the highest levels (not mid-table premiership going nowhere, nor a lower division successful manager). We can't afford to be a training ground for managers any longer. Problem is, who'd come to us in their right mind that has the proper qualifications with the current regime?

Harry is retiring,Hoddle signed a contract,Dowie is staying,Curbishly coming to us was lost for good years ago and in my opinion is as much a Charlton man now as a Hammer.Anyone with real talent,(like big Sam)will never come to us as long as our board exists. When a possible new manager approaches a club his first questions are always going to be,how much are you going to pay me and how much money do i have to spend? My two picks are A,Ranieri and B,Malcolm Allison.
