Pick out of the opitions. Don't think it's rubbish just because the compitition doesn't exist anymore.

I picked these teams from an assumed level of popularity. I think people would go for more recent teams. I didn't want to put too many English teams onto the poll. That's why I havent put West Ham 65, Everton 85 and Arsenal 94 in.
Dror, I was still making options when you posted and now here are the options.
My personal favourites are Juve 84 and a club I didn't put on the list, Sampdoria 1990.

There are three out-standing candidates in my opinion.
First the Spurs team of 1963, with Blanchflower, Mackay, White, Jones and Greaves who humiliated the defending champions Athletico Madrid 5-1 in the final. Very unlucky not to be the champions of Europe the previous season, and one of the best teams in English history.
Second the Milan of Rivera, Schnellinger, Hamrin and Prati who won the Ec in 1969 and were an excellent team.
Third Juve of 1984 which must rank as one of the most complete teams to ever play in European football.
I'm biased, but I pick Spurs.

That Spurs team was something special, I'll admit that.

I would only make one change to the options available, I would swap Everton 1985 for Chelsea 1998.
From the teams available the three comme mentioned certainly stand out, but I would add in Kiev's 86 team and Ajax of 87 to make a top 5.
For a best team I would probably give a very slight edge to Ajax (Rijkaard, Van Basten, Muhren and a young Bergkamp) over Spurs, but that could change to any of the top 5 on any given day.

Amazing that no club ever successfully defended the Cup Winners Cup!
Part of this is that in a few circumstances the winner entered the following season's Champions Cup.
Which leads to this interesting short list:
'68 CWC winners AC Milan won the '69 European Cup.
'84 CWC winners Juventus won the '85 European Cup (amidst tragedy and controversy)
'85 CWC winners Everton were denied entrance into the '86 European Cup.

Afriad to say I didn't pay too much attention to this competition but some of the finals that this tournament threw up were actually quite good. One team that's not on there is Real Zaragoza in 1995. I'll always remember that final against Arsenal when Nayim - a former Spurs player sent the ball over Seaman and into the goal in the very last second of extra time - from the halfway line! That has to be one of the greatest winning goals of all time. They also had that talented Argentinian player, Esnider I think was his name who put Chelsea out in the semis.

I forgot about them, sorry. You're being biased but that PSG side were a great side too. When I was making up the options, PSG didn't spring to mind.
I've noticed something ironic. The seasons Rapid Vienna lost the Cup Winners' - Cup Final which were 1985 and 1996, those seasons were the ones the Juve won the CL. Weird.
Not as weird as the fact that nobody could defend the CWC. Thanks unclesox for pointing it out.
To everyone,
For those who aren't satisfied, the maximum is 16 options and that's why I didn't fit enough in. There are a few teams that have been mentioned and should have been put in the poll but I appologise.

It was Esnaider. He scored in that final too. Nayim's winner was a beauty, one of the best goals I've ever seen despite the fact it was a fluke.

Here's another interesting tidbit:
After the first-round draw was made for all three 1968-69 UEFA tournaments, the Western European nations requested the draw be reconducted to keep apart Western clubs from meeting Eastern clubs. This was in response to the USSR's invasion of Czechoslovakia.
UEFA agreed, which prompted a number of Eastern nations to withdraw their sides. Only Czechoslovakia, Romania and Yugoslavia kept their sides in.
One of those Eastern clubs that remained in the CWC, Slovan Bratislava, went on to lift the trophy that season.
