Eriksson Names British Squad for Friendly vs. USA

CHICAGO (May 12, 2005) - England National Team head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has assembled his roster for the team's two-game tour of the United States at the end of this month. Despite the absence of a number of marquee players due to club commitments and injury, the 19-man England squad for their May 28 match vs. the U.S. at Soldier Field in Chicago features a number of players who will surely be making their mark for England in their final push to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup........


England Roster
Goalkeepers (3): Scott Carson (Liverpool), Robert Green (Norwich City), David James (Manchester City)

Defenders: (7): Wes Brown (Manchester United), Sol Campbell (Arsenal), Ashley Cole (Arsenal), Glen Johnson (Chelsea), Gary Neville (Manchester United), Phil Neville (Manchester United), Matthew Upson (Birmingham City)

Midfielders (5): Michael Carrick (Tottenham Hotspur), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle United), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City)

It is going to be interesting seeing the England reserves playing. My prediction is 2-0 England, with the goals coming from Wright-Phillips & Defoe.

It's time to make the UK pay for not supporting us in Iraq. I'm guessing a 6-1 USA victory, with Kasey letting in one shot in the 85th minute because he feels bad for Sven-Goran Ericsson, who is openly weeping on the sideline.

Frankie Hejduk will push Gary Neville into early retirement after repeatedly juking by him with his blistering crossovers.

The king of England will personally abdicate in shame after this result, and the British FA will petition FIFA to be removed from international play as a penalty.

Don't you English understand that we have the best goalkeepers in the world? Keller had to leave spurs because the brit FA demanded that their top goalstopper play for the team. Kasey decided it was best to leave the british league behind because it's full of anti-americanism.

It's only a friendly and the results have no significance other than a warm up for their WC qualifiers next month.

So you should stop the trash-talk and enjoy the 'friendly' match.
