So, what are your top 5 and worst 5 Futurama episodes? Here's mine:
Best
1. Xmas Story
2. The Series Has Landed
3. Fry & The Slurm Factory
4. Parasites Lost
5. My Three Suns
Worst
1. That's Lobstertainment!
2. A Leela Of Her Own
3. The Cryonic Woman
4. Spanish Fry
5. Bendin' In The Wind
Check out this link (http://www.gotfuturama.com/Information/EpisodeGuide/) to help you decide.
Figuring out my favorites was a lot easier than the worst, where the bottom three came to mind right away. Like I said in the Family Guy thread, even though I loved the show, it may have been for the best that it was canceled, because the quality seemed to be going down as it ended. I thought the first 2 season (production) were better than the last two.

I thought the last two season's of the show were probably the best two seasons of animated comedy ever. The finale was amazing and The Sting is probably the best 30 minute cartoon ever.
I think you're wrong about it ending at the right time as well. Whereas a show like the Simpsons or Family Guy probably should end after that many seasons because it can't stay fresh with static characters, Futurama had dynamic characters who had ongoing storylines, emotions, etc. It could have gone on considerably longer without getting stale.
Best episodes (I just packed these, so can't reference my DVDs)
1. The Sting
1. 300 Big Boys
2. The Devil's Hands are Idle Play Things
3. Luck of the Fryrish
4. Mars University
5. Futurestock
5. The Why of Fry
(damn, they're all good)
Worst episodes
Mostly the Zoidberg-central episodes
1. That's Lobstertainment
2. Crustacean in Love
3. The one where Z eats flag
Fact is, Futurama is the best show ever and will be forever.
What's that? There could be a better show in the future? Hmmm....
Nope. Never.
Ever.
Never.

I'm stunned that anyone could take against Zoidberg, he's ace. Only beaten by Bender and that's hardly surprising.
And I definitely think the last two seasons were great. It really seemed to be hitting it's stride.
'Bend Her' is fantastic. And any show with the title 'Bender Should Not Be Allowed On Tv' automatically gets my vote as one of the greatest things ever, on title alone.
Is there really this little love for Zoidberg or is it just the episodes that revolve around him?
I'm torn as to whether it was the right time to end it. Most of the shows I love are Britcoms and only have a few seasons at best, so I'm wary of anything dragging on too long. However, Futurama had no noticeable decline (quite the opposite), there are a few clunky episodes but it was going from strength to strength.

Mostly the episodes which revolve around him. His character is meant to be irritating, so I find those episodes a little grating. I didn't care for Qbert much either.

Zoidberg is probably the thing that pissed me off the most as the show progressed. I like the "Crustacean in Love" episode, but not the others. They changed him from a misinformed doctor who didn't know anything about humans, to a poor beggar. Way, way less funny. I don't know why they would do that either. You see a lot more poor people jokes that you do of the former. Besides, what's funnier: Seeing Zoidberg eat scraps that people throw to him, or seeing him tell Fry to "simply get down on your claws and do the apology dance?" No contest.

I like the number nine, so I'm just gonna go with it.
1. The Sting
2. The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings
3. Jurassic Bark
4. Three Hundred Big Boys
5. Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV
6. Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch
7. The Deep South
8. Roswell That Ends Well
9. The Problem With Popplers
Honorable mention goes to The Series Has Landed for introducing Crushinator.
Weakness does not exist in this series. Other than Cubert. I don't mind Dwight, but Cubert isn't interesting.
I liked the more serious episodes more. They were still funny (notably the out-of-left-field Dolemite joke in Jurassic Bark) but they were more than just simple entertainment. I don't really know how to put it.

It's simple. Something can be funny and have no point, or it can be funny and have a meaningful story as well. Which is why Futurama is a better show than Family Guy, even if Family Guy might be a little funnier. It makes you care more about the characters. It's the same situation with Frasier and Seinfeld, although I love both shows, Frasier is the better "show." That's also why I think Ed was an incredible show.

Hobo1: "Let's give a friendly welcome to this new robo."
Bender: "What did you call me?!"
Hobo2: "A Robo. You know ... a robot hobo."
Bender: "Oh, ok, I thought you said romo."
:D
Bender is the greatest character in cartoon history.

I can't recall the episode, but one of the funniest moments in tv history for me is when that damn Bender finds the Olestra chips from the past, then proceeds to eat them and lo and behold he craps bricks:D

Zoidberg. Is. God.
"Everyone we invited is here!"
"Also Zoidberg!"
The thing I noticed recently about Zoidberg is that he often sets Bender up. Frequently, when Zoidberg has a funny line, Bender tops it scant seconds later. From the above quoted scene:
Kif: Oh, this is the happiest moment of my life! You all brought such
wonderful gifts! But the greatest gift...
Bender: MINE!
Kif: ...is the bond I share with my smismar Amy.
I can see the point about making him pathetic but it didn't stop him being funny. Not by a long shot.
"Ah, a note from my old friend Bender... 'Dear Dr. Jerkberg...'"

From www.gotfuturama.com:
Over the last week, several sources from within the animation business have indicated to us that there is renewed talk at FOX about bringing fresh Futurama content directly to DVD. We corroborated this with other sources close to the show before publishing the information.
The talk is of course still in a preliminary stage. Options reported to us include one or more Futurama movies in case of a go-ahead.
This would be sweet! "Noticeably F.A.T., rewind the tape!"

My personal favorite was the one where they discover the Lost City of Atlanta, complete with Donovan explaining how it ended up in the bottom of the ocean while "Atlantis" plays in the background.

Sorry, I haven't been able to watch the final episode :( Moving and Comcast issues resulted in me losing the DVR recording. I'll hopefully get it on tape and then I'll update it. Q

Matt Groening talks about four Futurama straight-to-DVD movies that are in the works among other things in his interview with the Onion's AV Club.
http://www.avclub.com/content/node/47771
AVC: What can you say about the Futurama movies?
MG: We're going to do four of them, straight to DVD. And as we speak, I'm exchanging e-mails and ideas with David X. Cohen and Ken Keeler, both of whom worked on the show from the very beginning. Right now we're trying to figure out whether to do a giant epic, or separate crazy movies, or what. But I wager that Bender will be featured prominently.

My all-time favorite episode is probably the Birdbot of Ice-catraz.
