So Booker T & the MGs are booked to play in my little suburban town next week -- has anyone tried to see them over the past couple of years? It appears that the band now consists of Booker Jones, Steve Cropper, and whoever they can get on drums & bass. With so many of these sixties groups, you never really know who you're going to see, or if you're going to get 75 minutes or 40 minutes. Tickets are $50 so it's not your average just-go-and-see affair.

Anyone, anyone? Worth it, waste of time?

Didn't they back Neil Young recently? Yes -- quick search says they also recorded an album together in 2002.

But I can't offer much beyond that. 50 clams is a bit steep, but boy o boy do I love their stuff. If it was a teeny club, rather than an auditorium or larger, that might be a swaying factor in my mind.

If I had kids, I'd sacrifice one of them to see Steve Cropper play, so yeah, I'd definitely go...

OK: Champions League Trophy vs. Seeing Steve Cropper play.

Which is it?

Given the way Liverpool have played much of the year, it won't bother me too much if they lose, though I'll love it if they do. So Cropper it is...

Never been there before. Could be cheesy fun like back in the day when The Rascals played in roller rinks at the Jersey Shore, or, it could be embarrassing.

I should go, but I have visions of Jerry Lee Lewis running through my head. Jerry Lee's charging $60 for 20 minutes nowadays, with huge bumpers on either side of his performance by his no-name backing band.

Saw him when he played with the Blues Brothers Band at Merriweather Post. That was one TIGHT f***ing band. Same band that played in the movie.
