An unidentified airplane was detected in the airspace.
I believe they couldn't make contact with it, msnbc (www.msnbc.com) has a story on it.
CNN has Makauley Culkin testifying at the Jackson trial
Apparently an "All Clear" has been given.

From the Post:
White House, Capitol Evacuated
From Staff and Wire Reports
Wednesday, May 11, 2005; 12:21 PM
The White House and Capitol building were ordered evacuated at about noon today, according to a reporter and officials at the two buildings.
The Secret Service gave the "all clear" within minutes of the scare and allowed staff to return to their offices.
An official of the Homeland Security Department identified the plane as a Cessna, which is a light aircraft. Fighter jets had scrambled over the American capital in the alert.

It's an overreaction today, the day they don't overreact it's 9/11. You can't win, so you take all necessary precautions.

I thought that was from "Cessna Scare 2004"
We should get some expert analysis on this, though...
