Actually no:

Chelsea 94
Arsenal 80
Man Utd 74
Everton 61
Liverpool 55
Bolton 55
Middlesbrough 54

They have the same distance away from the title as from Boro. A 20 point difference.

They still are a flop though..............

Chelsea ran rings round them yesterday in the second half. It was good fun to watch. And their defending at Chelsea's second goal..... :D
Cup Final cant come quick enough.

Part of me wanted Chelsea to lose because of the comments about breaking the winning streak, but I also still realized that ManUre was only 6 back with 2 left. So hopefully this will knock them down a little before the FA Cup finals.

They're closer to Boro on goal differential, though. :)

I'm certainly not Koz....but I think what he meant was on points. They are smack between Boro and Chavs as far as points are concerned.

Yeah it sucks to have someone come into your house and do that, doesn't it? ;)

Seriously though, you guys are 14 back with a game in hand, so any laughing and pointing is ironic at best. Both clubs are just looking ahead to what should be a memorable cup final.

Yeah, right. It's so easy to be cavalier when you're in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League. We'll talk about the "memorable cup final" some other year, because this isn't it.

I see a gap appearing point wise between Arsenal and Manure. Is it 9 points now? :D

3rd second season running! Is that good enough for the world richest football club? I mean Arsenal only survive by buying up kids :D

ManU has been 3rd for 3 out of the last 4 years, i don't know why people are suprised by it anymore.

How do you work that one out?

How do you work that one out?
By looking at the table, and finding ManU in third this year, last year and in 01/02. Then i do a little basic math and come up with my conclusion.

How do you work that one out?

04-05 Manu - 3rd
03-04 Manu - 3rd
02-03 Manu - 1st
01-02 Manu - 3rd

So, for 3 of the last 4 season, ManU have been 3rd. The one league win was partially due to Arsenal losing the title.

My bad - I'd forgotten the scousers squeezed past us in '01/'02.

By your reasoning the Arsenal win that season was also "partially due to Man U losing the title" - Arsenal won the title that year by putting in a phenomenal run of games after Xmas in the same way Man U did the following year.

Lets do some more stats;

04-05 Manu - 20 points behind winners Chelsea (right now)
03-04 Manu - 15 points behind winners Arsenal
02-03 Manu - 5 points ahead of Arsenal
01-02 Manu - 10 points behind winners Arsenal

Does anyone see a pattern emerging?

Yup - Arsenal's inability to win titles back-to-back :p
