How many ways can I ask about a stadium?

Is Kornheiser as big a douchebag in person as he is on tv?

He's in the running with NPR's Frank DeFord when it comes to soccer.

My question is in.

Arlington, Va.: Any news on our new stadium? I seem to remember the mayor promising us our own place to play in time for 2007, but that seems pretty impossible at this point.

Steven Goff: Hahahahahahahaha......sorry about that.

Kevin Payne, United's president, says the initial stadium plans are for construction to take 20 to 24 months. So if everything fell into place, yes, a stadium could be ready in the summer of 2007. But I would be shocked if that happened. Realistically, think 2008.

Ouch.

MetroStars generate so few fans, so little media attention, it's almost as if they don't exist.

Alexandria, Va.: Any truth to the rumors that Freddy and Jaime are not getting along?

Also, do you have any news on Bobby Convey? Is he considering a return to MLS?

Steven Goff: I don't know how people can judge Jaime and Freddy's relationship from film clips. Are they best friends? No. Do they respect each other as teammates? Absolutely. Did Jaime seem a little cold toward Freddy early last year? Perhaps. (It's something I mentioned in a big Freddy story last August -- and Jaime wasn't too thrilled that I wrote it)

But they seem fine.

As for Convey, he's making an awful lot of money in England. Can't imagine he's coming back to MLS, but stranger things have happened.

So that settles that.

Why bring up Convey?

Do we need to bring up the fact that DC United has been to MLS Cup every postseason he hasn't been on the roster, and only made the first round of the playoffs once with him on it? ;)

Good one.

Washington, D.C.: I would swear the size of the beer cups at RFK have shrunk, while the price of beer has not. Can you confirm this?

Thanks.

Steven Goff: Scandalous!

I'll get Woodward right on it.

Alexandria, Va.: Thank you for your great coverage of the team. Have you ever thought about doing a story on the Screaming Eagles and Barra Brava. In the United States only MLS has supporters clubs that stand, bounce, sing and support the team the way the Eagles and the Barra do.

Steven Goff: Nah, sorry.

Space is limited, which means I have to stay focused on the team.

However, I certainly admire their tailgating skills!

Damn, there goes our shot at the bigtime :( ;)

Reston, Va.: I'm tired of hearing from the one soccer fan I know how baseball is ruining the stadium and ruining soccer in the city. Baseball is going to bring 2.5 - 3 million fans to games this summer. Since I have no idea, can you let me know the average DCU attendance and how many home games they play? I'm tired of being abused by this yahoo that thinks baseball is somehow treading on his hallowed ground.

Asshat.

If I was using BBB logic, 20 flares in the pitch would assure some coverage :D

HAH my reply to the baseball asshat got in!

Washington, D.C: Its worth noting to the baseball fan that RFK wouldn't be around anymore for Baseball to come back to, without United having played there to keep it open the last 10 years.

Steven Goff: Good point

United kept that place open since the Redskins' departure.
