Jack-hair John Terry believes that if Arsenal can go a whole season undefeated in the Prem, why can't Chavski?
Hmmm....that would mean you would have to win at Highbury, Johnny boy...when was the last time you did that?
Thanks for the laugh this morning, John!

Well, technically they wouldn't have to win at Highbury, just get the draw.
That being said, the further away we get from the '03/'04 season, the more absolutely absurd it seems that Arsenal were able to do that. You just can't have an awful game. Hell, you can hardly have an awful half and expect to go through 38 games without a loss.
I mean, really, the MVP of the undefeated run might very well be the cross bar at OT.

Well, actually it means they have to avoid defeat at Highbury, so a draw would be good enough unfortunately... Terry's doing a good captains job, and trying to rouse the troops for next season, but I think even with new signings they'll find it harder than this season...

They're going to learn very quickly what it's like to have a bullseye painted on your back from the very start of the year. We and Man U have both had it for a long time. Time for Chelski to take everyone's best shot!

Thanks for pointing that out....my coffee has not had its full effect on me this morning...;)

Well, in fairness, I think we've had that bullseye on us this year already, since we have had far more publicity than anyone else. That being said, is an undefeated season possible? Sure - you did it, and we've only lost one game in the EPL this year, to a disputed penalty at that. (Imagine if Anelka puts it off the bar too. ;)) Is it likely? No. I'd bet a lot of money against it happening; you need a ton of luck which is very unlikely to happen again, all in the league. As someone's said, Terry's just firing up the troops. Remember, one of the Gooners here actually thought we'd finish below 4th place. ;) :p

Thats through the press and the fans, next year, it'll be the players. They'll be the ones wanting revenge/knowing how to stagnate you, wanting to get one over the champions etc.

Or Henry on a hat-trick putting it over the bar :p

Conversely I think it's possible that we'll see it again in the next few years from 1 of Arsenal,Chelsea and Manu. The big 3 will pull away, and if they can get a draw or two at their rivals, they stand a chance. I'm not saying it's a dead cert, but give me odds of 10-1 for the next 5 years, and I'd take it without question...

I think Chelsea will find it a little harder next year for two reasons. As has been said, and despite Nice's protestations to the contrary, teams will see Chelsea as a bigger scalp next year as they are now reigning champions. Secondly, the other teams in the league will have had a look at their formation, which is relatively unused in the English game, and their managers will be even now coming up with ways to combat it.

Or a dastardly Pompey supporter shooting Robert Pires from the stands. ;)

Looks like Terry is learning to be a over confident like Mourningho. I doubt we'll see an unbeaten campaign for a several decades

Arsene Wenger has told Chelsea captain John Terry to carry on "dreaming" of matching Arsenal's unbeaten league campaign - as the Gunners are the only club to have managed it in the past century.
Wenger praised Terry's optimism as he set his sights on emulating Preston North End in 1888-89 and Arsenal in 2003-04 in not losing a single league game all season.
However, he insisted that although Jose Mourinho's side are a "great" team, they are still not as entertaining as Gianluca Vialli's Chelsea side - or as good as Manchester United's 1999 Treble winners.
Terry has declared that "our aim next season has to be to go through the season without losing at all in the league".
But Wenger responded: "To come out with ambitious statements is good, but to fulfil them is much more difficult.
"Why not say you want to do it? There's nothing wrong with having a dream. The difference is that at Chelsea it is still a dream - at Arsenal, it is a reality."
Chelsea's victory against Charlton moved them on to 91 points, just one behind United's all-time league record total from the 1993-94 season.
Wenger, who arrived at Highbury in 1996, added: "It's a great Chelsea team, I don't deny that at all. It's the best Chelsea team since I've been here and they have had some good teams.
"I feel they've had some more brilliant [creative] teams to watch since I've been here, such as the team Vialli had with Gianfranco Zola, Dan Petrescu, Dennis Wise, Roberto di Matteo, Frank Leboeuf and Marcel Desailly.
"But they did not have all the players with the strengths of this year.
"This time, they've had five or six players who were the core of the team and at their peak between 25 and 30 - Frank Lampard, Damien Duff, Joe Cole, Eidur Gudjohnsen, John Terry and Petr Cech."
Not that Wenger believes Chelsea have eclipsed the best side since the Premiership began in 1992.
"Manchester United in 1999 were the best team I've seen. They had David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane in their prime," he added, before joking: "And of course we were above all of them every year!"
--------------------------------------------
"Why not say you want to do it? There's nothing wrong with having a dream. The difference is that at Chelsea it is still a dream - at Arsenal, it is a reality."
Haha......OWNED. :D

I see this becoming like the Miami Dolphins undefeated season in the NFL.
Something that becomes more legendary as time passes. And the Arsenal squad that did it meeting for champagne whenever the last holdout in the league that season has their first loss.
This record will be incredibly hard to match. Not only can you not have a bad game, but that includes using your bench when a starter gets injured. The team chemistry has to be ideal and the team has to be on point every match. In a league where the least little mistake can cost you victory...definitely not easy.

I don't see Terry's statements as being over confident and I doubt Terry seriously thinks Chelsea will go undefeated next season. It's only a dream, a reach for the stars. And by reaching for the stars, the main obejective, winning the league, will be accomplished. Who cares if you actually grab a star? Am I wandering into Zani territory here? ;)
The title will be harder to retain, so the standards have to be increased.
For example, ManUre might go for second place next season. But since Chelsea cannot place higher than 1st, Terry increased the standards by calling for an undefeated season.

We are unbeaten this season but for one stupid Nicolas Anelka penalty goal. What is the big deal?

The team will be enhanced in the summer. If we can thrash Manchester United at their home. Who will stop us? We beat them three times this season.
One stupid goal is all it takes...
That's why Arsenal's season was truely great.

You might be the only one in the entire world who feels that way. Then again, you're already kind of in your own world!
