Well, I turned on GolTV expecting to see American Soccer in its normal 7:30pm ET, Monday time slot.

Imagine my surprise when Futbol Mundial came on.

A quick hunt through my DirecTV guide shows American Soccer has moved to Wednesday (8pm) with rebroadcasts on Thursday (12:30am, 11am, 6pm).

An even bigger surprise is that it is blocked out as a full hour.

They've merged The Soccer Files and American Soccer into one show now. Apparently GolTV is doing some restructuring.

That actually makes a lot of sense.....American Soccer and Soccer Files routinely covered the same info. Breaking up the debating of SF with the magazine style features of AS is a good idea. Looking forward to seeing how the integrate the two on Wednesday.

Personally I thought the name "The Soccer Files" was one of the stupidest names ever.

American Soccer is clean and neat. I'm looking forward to Lindsay and Ray bickering for an hour now. However, Phil Schoen is still bumbling his way thru the show unfortunately.

as you guys said... a combo .... not a bad looking set either..... Umm, let me rephrase that: better than "the soccer files" one

The set is a step up, and it's nice to see all three in the same shot. I never understood why Ray Hudson was always off on his own on the Soccer Files before.

This is so much better than before. They've done a very good job in improving the show. It must be added to the DVR now...

the "set" is not a set. It's a a computer generated image keyed in over a green screen.
The desk is the only real set piece.
IMHO it's ugly. Very 1999.
The show is ok.

I noticed the longer American Soccer show, but didn't know that Soccer Files got merged with it.

Now, I have to re-do the taping schedule. Aack!

We all enjoyed it and it seemed to cover a lot in an hour.Good to see MLS getting mixed in with the rest of the worlds leagues and the menu of the show is unusually extensive.Lively stuff and well worth tuning into.

Would you rather have a cable-access quality show with a bumbling announcer who can't even get player names correct and with no set at all?

Or would you rather have an actual set, with 3 VERY sharp analysts, and quality highlights and discussion of each match? Along with USL highlights and YA highlights?

I'll take the latter any day of the week.

Forgive the exhumation, but apparently, during the World Cup (Phil announced it), American Soccer is going to be on NIGHTLY. Bonus Ray Hudson! Woo-hoo!

Does Phil still say "the WOOORLD cup"?
