Which of the following young and talented footballers do you
think will be on top in 5 years? And which will either crash and
burn (a la George Best) or fail to play to their potential?

Fabregas
Van Persie
Rooney
Cassano
C. Ronaldo
Gilardino
Robinho
Lukas Podolski
(or your choice)

I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

And I'll share just one prediction with you: 5 years from now,
Wayne Rooney, 15 pounds heavier, will hand out yellow cards
to referees like he's Paul Gascoigne, throw karate kicks like
Eric Cantona, and curse at referees like . . . well, Wayne
Rooney. Before earning a lifetime ban from FIFA, that is.

Fabregas - will make it but wont be that big
Van Persie - will make it but wont be realllly good but will be pretty good IMO
Rooney - im not sure yet...if he stays in shape and healthy, he could be wonderful
Cassano - i dont think he will turn out to be that big but will stay at around the same
C. Ronaldo - will get better and eventually learn how to play much better when he gets more experience....if he learns, he could be one of the best for sure
Gilardino - will make it BIG. he just needs to be on a team that has more players to give him support
Robinho - he will be the best player in the world eventually....just wait a couple of years and you will see

I think Gilardino will have the best career of all.

Robinho will not live up to his potential, especially if he goes to Real Madrid. He'll probably be the biggest bust just because of the very high expectations. He will be one of the TOP 15 forwards in the world probably, but I don't think he will ever be a #1.

I agree that Gilardino is going to make it. But I don't agree that
Van Persie won't be really good--he's already so skillful!

Robinho will be fascinating to watch in Europe. If he's survived in
Brazil, where there are some nasty defenders, he could make it in
Europe, too. His talent is really superb. He's so slightly built, tho.

I see C. Ronaldo and Rooney dying out a bit.
