So I'm browsing the schedule for GolTV today on my Tivo looking for new programs to watch and I'm frustrated... I'm in their target market, the shows are probably what I'm looking for, but when I choose the show in the "Guide", it just says "Sports (2005). Series." for a description under the title and I can't figure out whether or not to check it out.

For those of you that work at GolTV, can you please provide helpful descriptions for shows that are not games and/or the title doesn't tell you everything?

For example, if I'm on Directv and browsing GolTV right now looking at a show called "Pre-Play" who's description just says "Sports (2005)". Is that a show I want to watch? I don't know - but I'm not going to record this hour long show just to see if it is even about soccer. There's another one tomorrow called "VW Gol" and it's description is "(2005) Series." Okay - from the title I know there's some soccer in it but what else?

FSC does a great job of making their titles descriptive enough but GolTV has so many more shows about soccer - I just don't know what they're about without taping them all.

GolTV's description for the show "Super Stadium" is perfect:Sports (2002) Discussion and analysis of football conducted by experts Francisco Gonzalez and Daniel Brailovski. Series.
GolTV - please provide descriptions for me in the "Guide" for these like those in "Super Stadium":
FIFA Fever - I know it's about FIFA but what? History? News?
Pre-Play - No clue
VW Gol
Ole: La Liga - I know it's about La Liga but is it a recap show?
Gol TV News - Just soccer or other sports?
Futbol Mundial - Is this the same as "World Football" but the Spanish version?
Ciao: Serie A - recap show? History?
Tu Futbol
American Soccer - What about it? Youth? National Teams? MLS? or everything?
World Game - Is this the same as Futbol Mundial?
45/45 - I love this show
Grandes Goles - Sounds like someting I want to watch
Galeria de Grandes - Is this an informercial or a show on soccer?
Real Madrid TV - recap? Player profiles? Que?
If anyone knows what some of the are, please post (What is Pre-Play?)

All you need to put on season pass is:

Ciao: Serie A
Ole! La Liga

Good shows, the announcer isn't annoying (Dean something?) and funny little musical interludes.

Lindsey Dean....he's also one of the commentators on American Soccer. Ciao and Ole! are both great review shows.....I agree.

*bump*

Almost a year later and GolTv is still the same... I was browsing the DirecTV channel guide looking to see what games were coming on today and it just says "Futbol - 2006 - Series". You have to wait until game day to see what games they are showing on there (unless you go to the website).

I don't wanna ********ing go to the website - that's why the channel guide is built into the TV. Why is this still so poor? And another thing, Phil Scheon still scares my cat after all this time...

And another thing, Phil Scheon still scares my cat after all this time...

Seeing the dude on "American Soccer", where he mentioned his wife is Peruvian.... and looking at how well he seems to enjoy food (ala Sigi/Bruce) .....Your cat has plenty of reason for being afraid, veery afraid....It's a semi-obscure reference....

Bigtoga-

We need to bombard Gol TV with emails. I already did on updating the TIVO schedules. Those nimrods usually wait until Saturday morning around 10a to update their schedules.

Whatever happened to Constantino is he still on big soccer? Does he still work on Gol TV?

Also email all the guys on American Soccer too.

You never know...

Hi there ! Yes, fortunately I still work on GolTV ;-) I'll try to find out where does Tivo gets their Electronic Grid's data from.

We don't wait to Saturday 10a to update our schedules, in fact our schedules are updated on Wednesdays on our web site.

The process is like this: Each Tuesday, we receive a final list that include all the available games each league offers. Some leagues offer 3 games on "multilateral satellite", meaning that they uplink those games to a satellite where all the buyers of that game may easily and cost effective receive them. Other leagues specifically uplink games for us. For example, Italy and Spain usually provide that list on Monday, others just on Tuesday noon, other only on Wednesday.

With that list, we render the Programming Grid for the week starting the next Saturday, that is a Saturday to Friday grid. We produce an excel spreadsheet and deliver that to many people, including newspapers, media, websites (like SoccerTV) AND to providers of Electronic Programming Grids (EPG). This companies provide cable and satellite operators with the service of producing and maintaining their lists. Two major providers are Tribune and TV Guide.

We deliver the excel spreadsheet on Wednesdays afternoons or evening. I've perfectly seen our EPG in Atlantic Broadband (my cable provider) but not updated on Dish Network (just an example), etc, etc. In the last months, I've seen accurate EPG's almost always. Many times when an EPG is not updated, it's that the local cable for some reason couldn't get it from their provider. Other times, whenever for some reason we sent it late (on Thursdays), I've also didn't see it correctly.

I'll try to find out where does TIVO gets their EPG from.

Cheers,

Constantino

Thanks Constantino!

Love the real time scores!

Maybe we can see some Coppa Italia and MLS on Gol TV in the future?
