Well, figured this might be of interest here since so many Arsenal fans on this board hail from the Chicago area (leading me to constantly watch over my shoulder... :p). Anyways, I saw on the Fire board that Hornby himself is set to appear at the Printers Row Book Fair (http://www.chicagotribune.com/extras/printersrow/program.htm#h) next month, if any of you are interested in meeting the man live and in person. Arsenal America could probably get something going too.

Detlef - I'll PM you about your trip. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you.
All Gooners who can meet the Nick should go. Catfish if you go have him sign a book for me. :)

Will do....unless he will only sign 1 book! Someone please post the location, cost and other information ASAP!
Let's plan a huge Mob of Chicago Gooners!

This is great news, I can't wait to meet him, I'll have to get a new copy of Fever Pitch cause mine has been beaten up from being read so many times.

I have just seen Nick Hornby interviewed on BBC TV where he stated that he has just sold the rights of his new book, "A Long Way Down" to Hollywood, and Johnny Depp will star. Briefly it is about 4 people, at first unknown to each other all meet up, and then form a pact to jump off a tall building on New Year's Eve.
My money is on that they met at White Hart Lane, and the 3rd round F.A. Cup draw had just been made, and Sperzzz have been drawn away to Rushden & Diamonds! :)
He added that due to "book tours", (as the TV presenter is a "Gooner"), is that this will be the first F.A. Cup Final he will miss since 1971.
With all that money, he couldn't re-schedule an appearance, or a quick return flight back to the U.K.? "Nick, get your priorities right"!!
After all you don't need the money, as he mentioned that the last lost of money he received from Hollywood he donated to his son's school, as he is autistic.
