Watching it today on NBA TV and CSKA Moscow playing, I know alot of basketball teams are affiliated with their soccer counterparts, but i was wondering about CSKA, because every time i have seen CSKA mentioned in soccer terms the team is called C-S-K-A but i am watching the basketball game and the announcers are pronouncing the team name Chess-KA, is that just uninformed announcers butchering the name or the correct way when translated to english. Anybody Know? By the way enjoying the game I went to Maryland and I enjoy watching the former Terp Sarunas Jaskievicus for Tel-Aviv he has realy improved as a player since college.

It's uninformed butchering, of course.
CSKA were great favorites to win the title right away from the start, but they failed today to Tau Ceramica. Although Tau is a great team, this is a big surprise, especially concidering CSKA had home court advantage.
Maccabi, last year's champions, will probably win it again.

Thanks for the info, I was 90% sure it was the announcers making the mistake, it is so typical, it makes me embarrased sometimes, I watched both games, I agree, Maccabi defintly looked the strongest, Anthony Parker really shot the ball well in the 2nd Half, Tau came out and played well early which was a help in front of the Russian crowd and then CSKA was woeful from the foul line.

The announcers on tv mentioned Luis Scola and Tiago Splitter possibly coming to the NBA soon.

Scola is pissed because he wasn't elected in the best line up of the season, so he'll probably try his luck in NBA. Sarunas has no intention on going to NBA.
The thing with European players on NBA draft has changed in the past years.
Unlike before the best players are not too interested in NBA, while young players are obsessed with NBA, even before they prove themselves in Europe.
