Gallas is French and PSG is French so choosing them should be a no brainer. :) French players need to show some loyalty to their homeland instead of just chasing the dollar. It be so great if a French player chose to leave Arsenal for a French team. I'm sure all of us here would love that.
Ummmm...mmmmm you mean chasing the Euro?
Hey, if the tax rates in France weren't so whacky, I'd like to think many French players would stay in France but until that or the money becomes alot better don't count on it anytime soon. Besides, French players playing abroad only helps the National Team as well as Ligue 1.

Oh come on. I think PSG is really reaching trying to lure Gallas to them. He's not going to leave the Arsenal and champions league football, not the mention something like 80K pound sterling a week. French players should show some loyalty, but it should be the players leaving to play for Stoke City and Birmingham not the top guys.

Gallas is 30 and Wenger prefers young players so he might be willing to let him go. I thought that Wenger said once a player hits 30 he doesnt want to sign them to more than a 1 year deal. He might want to cash in on Gallas now while he still has some value.

Funny thing is that Wenger will be running PSG in a few years.
The mother ship awaits you Arsene :D

We are real thin at CB right now. Arsenal already needs another defender, if they sold Gallas we would need two, and one who could start immediately no less. Arsene does like young players, and I don't think the fans are too enamored with him right now, but he's spending at least this season in London. Next season, maybe PSG could get him on a free.

Is the Sunday Mirror a reliable source ?
I think the Sunday Mirror made this one up regarding CV sayings :
Quant à la rumeur William Gallas, l'ancien présentateur du «Droit de savoir» aurait «appris ça comme tout le monde ce matin dans la presse, dit-il. J'étais ravi, Paul aussi. Pour l'instant, nous n'avons pas de nouvelles. Nous attendons le coup de fil de William Gallas. Ce serait avec plaisir, avec grand plaisir...»
:D:p
By the way, CV sent a message to Basa today :
I'm glad to heard that. Basa is our best option in L1 since Mensah joined Lyon.

the Sunday Mirror is not very reliable.
maybe Wenger will want to cash in but will Gallas want to leave? and who will replace him at Arsenal? I think if Senderos is given the confidence of being 1st choice for the whole season he will raise his game, but it is a huge risk to do that. and I don't think Djourou or Song is ready either. I think instead we would have to sign an experienced defender to replace Gallas, and that replacement would be more expensive than 6 million pounds or whatever PSG wants to offer.
hell Gallas is one of the highest paid players at Arsenal, I'm not sure he would take a pay cut to join PSG.

Couldn't have said it better myself. No way Gallas leaves for Paris - Madrid or Barca perhaps, but not Paris.

Well, I never heard anyone say Flamini or Hleb would never leave. Also, leaving for Milan and Barca is difinitively different than leaving for Paris. PSG is a second tier clue- a step down from Arsenal, whereas a move to Barca or Milan can be seen as a step up from Arsenal.
* As an Arsenal and PSG fan I'm trying to be as objective as possible here.

Reailty is that PSG is a step down from Arsenal but thats not how it SHOULD be. Heck, every French team is a step down but that dont mean its how it should be.

Fact is you threw the word Never out there, too much weird Sh.. has happened in this game to even consider using that word during the Mercato. Ronaldinho being linked to Man City is a great example of what I'm talking about - and No I don't think it would have ever happened but the fact he was linked to them for more than a few weeks or Sam Eto'O being linked to some far away place in Eastern Europe...
Stepping up or down isn't the issue here. Being able to step and play on a regular basis with minimal B.S. is the bottomline and that's what this whole thing with Gallas is all about. It would have never been brought up if something wasn't wrong with his situation. It's mind boggling to me that he's having such a problem at Arsenal.
Think about it.

Fair enough.
I do think that the situation with Gallas is just media speculation after Villenueve said something about wishing he could get him. I don't think he's really having problems at Arsenal. Some fans have made a big deal about his behavior after the Birmingham game, but other than that I haven't heard of anything. He's still the Captain and an automatic choice. For some reason the press seem to like to pick on Gallas.

I think PSG will get Thierry Henry eventually. He's play there for a few years then retire.

I don't like the idea of having so many players over 30, and had Thuram joined us, it would have meant two players over 35, at a high price.... but we'll see how things go in the next weeks for the season.
But I cannot complaing about the transfers so far.
I don't think Briand is worth anything over 8 million euros.
Sessegnon, we'll see, I don't know him. Hoarau, he's played against L2 teams, and continues to score goal after goal against them, that's good to know.
Giuly, Makelele? We couldn't say no.
We still need a defender, and at least one striker.
Meanwhile, we need to get rid of a few more players. In addition, we might have to sell Pegguy, if we know we have more than one good striker coming.
This season will be better. We'll do it.
The only problem is that other L1 teams are doing some great recruiting as well.
But to be honest, I would have no problem with a french version of the Big4, as long as we are in it, of course.
oh btw, it is a real shame that we finally get real players right after Pauleta left.
Some rumors as well. N'Gog is apparently gone. The little prick doesn't want to extend his contract. I still have high hopes.
Bah, we still have Chantome and Boli and Sakho. But they still have a lot to prove, and the management has understood how big of a mistake it was last season to rely so much on them. Too risky. Let's see how the youngsters will do next to the old papys who will talk to them about the good old days d'antant
PS: Sportyboy, Henry? I highly doubt it. I instead think he will get to the US after this season. Quite sure of it. He just loves the US.
On the other hand, I would absolutely love to get Trezeguet. And Pires.
And rename ourselves the "Anti-Domenech FC"
At least I know Estelle will be happy not to have to fly to Rome so often.
But Maka better watch out, he better know where Noemie spends the nights :D

I had recently read that Thuram was going to try and play. Either way, I think you're right....we need another defender and a striker. At least.
So far, the team is shaping up well.

I hold out hope that Pauleta may decide to come back since we've signed some big (albiet older) players.

One of our biggest problems last year was letting in soft goals due to a lack of experience. I think we'll do better with that this year, but I'd still like another experienced defender. Mensah would have been a good choice had he not joined Lyon.

That is very scary that the 2 guys up front havent even been signed yet. I dont see how this team can score a lot of goals. Chantome in the middle isnt that great I'm sorry.
Obviously the strenghts are the wingers and Makalele but the rest is iffy including Landreau. Could see a lot of 0-0 games which is typical Ligue1 anyways.

Yeah, I'd like a more creative player than Chantome.
I think Landreau will benefit a lot from having a better defense in front of him. It would be a big confidence boost and I think that's what he needs the most.
I can't even think of who we're going to put up front. I know we're still after Briand, but if that doesn't pan out we're not even rumored to be after anyone else. Pegguy and Pancrate

Well both Rothen and Giuly can score goals so as long as they get some decent strikers over the summer i think they will be ok. As for Landreau i think he will bounce back.
