I read that PSG are interested in Thuram and Makelele.
I dont believe it. I believe these players are looking for one last pay day before they retire and their agents are floating PSG's name out there.

They would both be signings that would help the team a lot, though. Especially as Thuram would likely tutor Sakho, and Maké would tutor Sankharé/Digard/Mulumbu/Clément/Ngoyi/Chantôme (if he stays), which would be very beneficial.

Both would be huge additions, but also huge wages. Not only great players, but it would be fantastic to have them around to teach the younger players.
Hopefully CC will decide to put some money into their "investment".

Well they did have huge wages but I thought they are both out of contract now.

Yepes and Pauleta won't get their contract extended therefore 2 of highest wages are no longer at PSG. I don't know what's Bazin's ambition for PSG though, so I'm not sure Colony Capital will afford to pay Thuram and Makelele's salaries. We always heard big names like Coupet, Giuly, Thuram and Makelele and we end up with Bourillon, Ceara, Everton, Souza...I'm sceptical...
In my opinion, the first 2 players signing with PSG will be relevant of what our future signings will be. If that's Calvé and another Bourillon-like, PSG will have a hard time in 2008/2009. Anyway, according to the media our transfer budget will be about 15-20 million Euros which is not enough regarding to how weak is our team. Even Cayzac admitted that CC has to invest much more money when he resigned.
Bazin also appointed Villeneuve as president. Wenger adviced him... It's really hard to understand why he chosed Villeneuve who doesn't know football at all. He doesn't even know who Bernard Mendy is. He pretended to know Clément and Camara but he called him Souleymane Camara instead of Zoumana. In fact nothing really changed at PSG. Le Guen, Roche and so on are at PSG still with the same functions.
Villeneuve wants a new goalkeeper. I wonder if it should be our priority while our midfield and fowards are not good enough.
I'm kinda worried. Diané and Mendy will probably not remain at PSG. We can argue that they aren't that good but they are the only fast players we have. Rothen, Souza, Clément and so on are all slow. If we want a better midfield, we need different kind of players so it'd be good to sign an explosive player as right winger.
Anyway, I agree. Thuram and Makelele would be good tutors for our young players.

I still dont believe it. They are even be linked with guys like Viera and Coupet. Its all BS. That 15-20 M transfer budget is exactly the same amount theyve been spending every past summer. Nothing's changed. He doesnt know the players he only knows the big named French stars like Thuram and Makelele and he has no clue that they cant sign those players.

A new GK? Landreau had a tough year, but I still think he's one of the better keepers in the league.
Assuming Yepes and Pauleta are gone...we should be looking at someone like Mensah. Not too expensive and proven in the league. Even Bourillon looked good next to him.
At least one defender...I happen to like Bassong at Metz, but he's still young and we need players to come in and contribute immediately.
I think 2 forwards...Gouffran would still be good if we can get him.

Maxifoot said that Coupet has no interest in staying in France even though PSG are looking at him.

Bassong is good, Bellaïd would be better, though more expensive. Both of these guys though have only a season of L1 experience, and even less as both got injured while being on horrible teams. Mensah would make more sense in the short term, although a Sakho-Bellaïd central defense is highly appealing as that could be center backs on the national team someday. Also, if Sakho and Bellaïd develop quickly, then each of them will be better than Mensah in a year, if not less, though I don't know if the PSG brain trust is willing to wait.

I didn't know our trust had any brains.
I haven't seen much of Bellaid. I would like an experienced CB next to Sakho next year. Bourillon may do well enough, but I doubt it.
It could be a very long transfer season for PSG. I think we need to get ...
2 Forwards
Right Midfielder
Center Mid
Right Back
Center Back
Plus replace any players who leave on the depth chart.
Naturally, PSG will buy overhyped Brazilians who contribute nothing.

- You guys forgot about Camara...
PSG need experimented players and should replace the weaker players which doesn't include Camara who is one the best. It's been 2 years that PSG sign almost only young players like Bourillon, Diané, Digard, Clément, Everton...it doesn't work at PSG.
The young players took too much importance at PSG and they've put a mess in the "locker room" (Hechter, Moutier...reported it). Some players like Alonzo blamed their attitude. Le Guen had a meeting with Sakho because of his arrogance...There are plenty of other examples. It's good to bring some young players but not as much as we saw during the previous season.
It's hard to succes at PSG where the pressure is really high. A team made only with young players won't success. An amalgam of veterans, 27/29 years old players and young players is the best. Being focused in only one kind of players is the worse thing PSG can do.
Right now, the older player is Rothen and he is only 30 years old. This team really lacks of talent, experience, technicity, quickness...
- Instead of bad mouthing Landreau, Villeneuve better extend Alonzo's contract. He is a good goalkeeper and a fantastic man. I'd really be disappointed if he leaves PSG.
I don't understand what CC, LG, Roche, Villeneuve and so on are doing with PSG.

Villeneuve said that this year the budget will increase to 100 M up from 70 M. If thats true then that's great news.

Well, it's official - Alonso signed with Nantes.

You're right...I did forget to give Camara credit for being a very good player.
What did Villeneuve say bad about Landreau? I never did hear about this.
Apparently Le Guen is after Govou. If we could get guys like Govou, Wiltord, Pires, Maka, Thuram, etc...it would be a great coup for Paris. However, I don't actually think any will come.

I cant imagine Govou would want to go to another French team. OL needs him badly right now because they need veteran leadership after losing Coupet.

:DYou're right...I did forget to give Camara credit for being a very good player.
According to L'équipe, Atletico Madrid are after him. They'll take part of the CL (preliminary round). I hope he'll stay though I understand the players who want to leave.

One day after Landreau being left out of the national team by Domenech, Villeneuve said that he wants "un grand gardien". It was already hard for Landreau to don't take part of the upcoming Euro and he said such a foolish thing...In my opinion, Landreau is better than any goalkeeper PSG can afford to sign. It's not only about sport but also about respect.
Speaking of respect, no one at PSG contacted Alonzo (no text, no emails, nothing) even though he wanted to extend his contract...Good Luck with Nantes. I'm not worried about him, he'll success.
Villeneuve said another absurb thing, about womans this time : "L’instinct, les sens, je laisse ça aux femmes. Moi, je ne suis pas une gonzesse". That's sexist and ridiculous.
I cant imagine Govou would want to go to another French team. OL needs him badly right now because they need veteran leadership after losing Coupet.
Lyon's transfer budget is about 50-60 million Euros...I'm jealous...Anyway, Govou is supposed to leave during each transfer window but he always remains at Lyon :p It'd good for PSG to sign such a player though.
According to the rumors, PSG 2008/2009 :
-----------Hoarau---Koné / Diané------
Rothen/HBA-------------Giuly/Govou
-------Makelele---Vieira----
Armand--Thuram (Basa)--Camara--Calve
----------Landreau--------
Hey, that's sexy :D If only it was true...

I thought it was funny that Dortmund couldnt afford Basa. Dortmund, huge city, huge stadium yet cant get a player from tiny Le Mans. Sounds a lot like PSG. ;)

im worried about villeneuve, he acts like a stuck up retard with too much money in his pockets and an overblown sense of self importance. i hope he doesn't further ******** up psg.
also, i think we need to strike the right balance between old and young players. im glad that chantome decided to stay, and hopefully digard will have a better season next year, but sakho was not worth the trouble he caused. ideally, we will have a few good veteran players and a well rounded group of youths but i don't know if that will happen.

Digard was injured the majority of the season I thought, though he played well when I did see him, in a match at Monaco. Though how is Sakho not worth the trouble and what did he do, anyway? Act a little arrogant? Well, he has been surclassé by the FFF (playing with the U-19s, not U-18s), which I would think speaks volumes about how good he could be, so I believe he is worth the trouble (if he is causing any).

L'Equipe is reporting that we are currently negotiating with Sessegnon and Briand. I've heard Sessegnon linked with several clubs, but don't know much about him. Briand would probably be a good signing.
Also something about us looking at Giuly again.
