Hmmm, I thought I knew a lot of Brazilians, but I don't know either guy. Anyone care to enlighten?

Valvo scouted both of them. He scouted Ceara as well some month ago.

From what i've read, Souza is a versatile player. He is a defensive midfielder able to play as a right winger. The transfer fee will be about 3 million Euros which will be shared between his agent and his club (Sao Paulo) because he is a co-owned player. He'll be 29 years old on monday which might means he is most mature than youth brazilian players. He seems to be either skilled and physical. He is good at free kicks.

He is playing for Sao Paulo which is one of the best soccer team in Brazil therefore I'm pretty confident about this signing.

Everton Santos is a forward but he can play on the left side as well. He is pretty young (21 years old). Corinthians released him since they are relegated to second division. It seems like he'll be a substitute to prevent injuries (Rothen, Luyindula...). Yesterday, he said : "sorry to his teammates, because he couldn't say good bye to them. He was in hurry to take a flight to head to Paris. Paris SG were in touch with him for quite a long while". I hardly believe the last part.

That's a huge surprise. No one expected this move.

Cayzac and co avoid supporters anger with those moves because PSG fans keep having fetish for brazilian players. As a matter of fact, Colony Capital lied to the fans. They promised us about 10/15 million Euros to make the squad better. Souza + Everton Santos = 3 million Euros and PSG refused to pay 7 million Euros for Krasic...PSG can't expect to sign good players with 3 million Euros and I expect to see the replacement of Pauleta this summer...

This is the one I'm worried about. Diane is doing well right now, but we need an out-and-out goal scorer. Gouffran would be good, but I don't know what his situation is right now. Fred is probably out due to wage demands. I still think Luyindula is crap.

I'm feeling that Paul Le Guen has no faith in Diané. In my opinion he has been doing alright lately therefore he deserves more confidence from Le Guen. Le Guen is a huge fan of Elmander...We'll see...I'm also worried about it.

Souza and Ederson transfers have been confirmed on PSG official website.

What a relief! Finally some signings!

I have to say that I am happy that the club decided to go the Brazilian way. First, because I love Braziiiiiiuuuuuuuu! Second, because it brings back memories of the glory days.

That said, I am little bit worried because they probably won't be able to help the team immediately. Souza and Everton have not played since November. And it's their first time in Europe. We all know that many Brazilian players can have problems to adapt, especially in Winter.

But let's hope everything goes well.

Some vidz of Souza (aka Showza, a promising nickname):

I like the last video. Showza looks gangsta therefore the background music of this video suits him:p. It seems like he argued with Vampeta because he is playing for Sao Paulo and Vampeta for Corinthians (like Everton Santos).

Le Guen gave a press conference today and he talked about each. First of all, Souza left for Brazil to move out...I'm guessing that he was in hurry and he didn't have enough time left to prepare it.

Souza is in shape because he has been playing for Sao Paulo during the past few weeks and he was pretty good. Le Guen expects him to be on training on thuesday. In my opinion, we might see him against Le Mans even though I don't think he'll start.

Everton Santos stayed in Paris and had his first training with PSG. Le Guen is pleased by his first training with us. He said that Everton shown up what he is able to do (he had a huge smile:D). He seems to think that it'll take longer for him to be fully adapted to a new football, culture... but he will be aware of his performances while trainings. His integration would be easier with a warm welcoming from PSG players and especially from Ceara.

It seems like PSG scouted an american soccer player (Michael Bradley) from Heerenveen.

You're right, I forgot the Paulista championship is being played. I read that Souza was back from Brazil today and trained with the team. Can't wait for Saturday.

By the way, anyone who's in the US know if the game will be shown on TV5Monde? TV5's website lists the broadcast at 8am PST, though the game is played at 3pm in France (6am PST)

And there's Pauleta too. He might learn a lot from the Eagle :)

That could be a good idea. He's a promising player, and already a good asset for the US National Team. FIY, he's also the son of Bob Bradley, the USMNT manager.

However, the fact that several English clubs are interested might be problematic if PSG decides to go after him. US players tend to go to England as soon as they got an opportunity, even if it is to a "small" club.

how ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm...

What's exactly his position ? I read that he is a midfielder does he play on the right side, left side ? In my opinion, PSG better seek for a defensive midfielder to play next to Clement because Chantôme hasn't been good lately.

Supposedely, PSG did not used the whole money they were able to spend during the past transfer windows but I'm sure it will be used for Elmander or at least trying to sign him.

By the way, Souza said good bye to his teammates on sunday. He also gave a press conference. He said that : "[He] wanted to stick with Sao Paulo FC and was under negociation with Sao Paulo to extend [his] contract but PSG came with an a good proposition. [He] wanted to play in Europe and it was the right time for [him] to take this decision. PSG is a dream club, Rai's one.

Then he cried (it reminds me of Rai) and he said that "[He] spent 5 fantastic years with Sao Paulo. [He] won everything with them. All these memories, he'll keep it in mind. He'll miss them all.

Souza really loved Sao Paulo FC. It's good to see someone like him. He deserves to succes with PSG.

By the way, he has a hot temper. He argued with Vampeta (ex-psg, actually gay). He argued with Dunga because he didn't called him up with the national team. He was upset when Adriano signed with Sao Paulo because he is willing to wear the number 10. However, Sao Paulo fans liked him also because he used provocation toward Sao Paulo's rivals.

Anyway, it seems like he would start against Le Mans because he tooks part of the training match with the starting team.

--------------------Diané---------
-----------Luyindula--------------
Everton Santos--------------Souza
----------Clement---Ngoyi--------
Armand---Yepes---Camara---Ceara

Chantôme played with "les espoirs" but he might start instead of Ngoyi. Rothen was french national team and he'll play instead of Everton.

Anyway, PSG academy was ranked in "catégorie 1" :

Catégorie 1 : Auxerre, Bordeaux, Le Havre, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Metz, Monaco, Montpellier, Nancy, Nantes, Paris, Rennes, Saint-Etienne, Sochaux.

Where is Marseille ? :p

I think he's a right wing type of player. If you want to know more about him, you can probably ask on the US Men's National Team board.

No, he's not a winger. He does not have the speed for that role. He's a central midfield. He usually plays defensive midfield with the USMNT, but has a more offensive role with Heerenven. That kinda fits what NicolasN's asking for to help Clement, doesn't it :)

Exactly, thank you both. It would be nice if PSG could sign him. What happens with PSG ? Are we getting good at transfers ? :p

I forgot to post the link of Souza's video while he was crying.

Ceara gave an ITW on the official website of PSG and he said pretty good things about Souza. He knew him before him to sign with PSG. He also said some days ago on globoesporte that the way of playing football in France is "kick and rush".

By the way, there is some pictures of Everton and Souza while training :

According to Le Parisien, Colony Capital will inject more money for PSG to replace Pauleta and Yepes. It seems like PSG will sign 2 big players (France international A level) and an asian player well known in his own country (japanese or chinese).

PSG are also thinking about planning a tour in Canada or Asia. It's a good thing for PSG to explore new markets in Asia. Metz has agreements with asian clubs for young players exchange especially with Korea and China (Kang Jin-uk, Ou Kyung-jun - both korean). Lyon took part of the Peace Cup several times and even have a fan base in Korea. They will build an academy in Vietnam...Le Mans signed Matsui which allowed them to sell their TV rights in Japon and Matsui's jersey is the most selled Jersey of Le Mans.

PSG are late, but Colony Capital seems to have a good marketing plan.

This isnt really a big deal. Those are the 2 highest salaries on the team so its only logical to bring in players to replace them who are internationals rather than young players. Its not like the budget is going up significantly or anything. Capital Colony are still a joke.

So, we're replacing a striker and central defender and at least one will be a French International?

CB - Escude, Givet, Thuram ?

I can't even think of a striker who would be available. Menez perhaps?

No offense to you all, but Ménez is being courted by Inter, as well as some other "big" clubs, so I doubt that a player of his calibre is coming. However, I don't see why Thuram wouldn't, as I actually think it'd be a good idea for him to tutor Mamadou Sakho, whom many, including myself, believe has the ability to be one of the best defenders we have coming up, if not another Thuram.

Yeah, I don't think Menez would come to Paris. I was just trying to think of any French A-teamer that might be possible and he was as close as it got.

I would love to see Thuram and Makalele come in to tutor the young guys, but I doubt we'll see it based on PSG's dedication to youth.
